Fantastic and fun read -- thanks for posting. Probably the thing I miss most about Sunday mornings is reading Gammon's notes pages.
One petty critique -- I know it is common now to hyperlink everything, but it is distracting to read with so much bolded/hyperlinked. I also think by having so many it naturally deters from actually clicking on one to see where it goes. Anyways, great stuff!

I second this. I loved reading the column so much that I fought through the bold hyperlink text. It actually messes with my eyes while reading. I hope you keep writing it, because I will certainly read it.

Regarding the hyperlinks - I understand it can be distracting and/or hard to read. One of the .COM editors can speak to the issue further, but as an author, I feel very weird not including a source when the work is not 100% mine. I can definitely cut down on unnecessary links - like, the one at the end of the Doerr section. I just happen to love everything about Bobby and that video, and got a little carried away.
The .com, and other sites, use the B-Ref player linker because it automatically links their player pages in case people want to do some exploring. If it wasn't available to us it would take hours every day to link all of the MLB and minor league players we mention in our stories on a daily basis. I'm sorry that can be distracting at times, but until there is a better solution, we'll continue to use it.

I should be more specific: I like the links you provided. I think it's that they are bold and very bright. Perhaps them being the same size/format and text but a different color or underlined? Sorry if that's an annoying request. I'm not sure how much control you guys have over the format of the links.

We're working on a new layout which will probably help with those hyperlinks. It would have been done by now if it wasn't for me getting stuck last week. It may get done as soon as this weekend.
