Sox-Yanks in New Orleans flashback

Louisiana friend of mine sent me this, anyone remember this in ‘71? I was unaware we played a 3 game exhibition against the Yankees in New Orleans. Fun read.

Maybe someone should show him the 1977 standings (NYY clinched the division the day before the season ended) and, of course, 1978.

Sure, but they were fighting for the division then, not the league. Or course, based on the playoff structure prior to the wild card, there was no way to compete head to head with the pennant on the line.
