URI said:Getting 1 point out of Wigan this season...going from 1-0 up on Everton to 1-2 in extra time...1-0 to Fulham...starting the season with L-D-D against Newcastle, WBA, and Norwich...drawing QPR right around the 1st...the Liverpool loss...
There are a lot of points there that were dropped that shouldn't have been. We don't need to worry about the Wigans and the Uniteds of the world if our own house was in order.
DennyDoyle'sBoil said:That's all true, but at least grant that it's crappy luck that it took 73 points this year. Most years, 72 would be plenty.
What Chelsea and Arsenal did to close the year was pretty amazing -- Arsenal in particular. They didn't even look at that impressive in doing it, but you can't question the results.
Monaco look to have pipped Tottenham to the signing of Joao Moutinho – reportedly snagging the Porto midfielder in a £59million double deal with James Rodriguez.
The French moneybags, owned by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, are looking to make a big splash in Ligue 1 next season and have seemingly stolen a march on Spurs for long-term target Moutinho.
Tottenham are set for a ruthless clear-out following their failure to reach the Champions League.
Aston Villa’s saviour Christian Benteke and David Villa of Barcelona and Spain remain two of Tottenham’s known targets.
Other names in the frame include Zenit St Petersburg hitman Hulk, who scored 36 goals in 53 games under Villas-Boas at Porto two seasons ago, and Lyon's Lisandro Lopez.
SidelineCameras said:Even as an Arsenal supporter, I will be the first to admit that the Gunners benefited from the schedule at the end of the season. Yes they still had to go out and win the games and all that, but QPR, Wigan, and this version of Newcastle was a (relatively) easy road, especially since Tottenham and Chelsea had the head to head late in the season. Plus the fact that Man U had already secured the title before they came to the Emirates.
Have you seen Jan Vertonghen? You could get a good read on a putt off his perfectly crafted fluff.DrewDawg said:Moutinho apparently heading to Monaco.

Also, Adebayor and the Deuce out?

And, in a blow to URI, the immaculately-coiffed Scott Parker could be heading to QPR...
DLew On Roids said:I'd argue that only the Man U match was an example of fortunate scheduling. Arsenal had easier games at the end, but tougher games up to that point.

You said you didn't want to clog up the Spurs thread with Arsenal talk, and I was joking by saying you should complain about how unfair it is to be an Arsenal fan in the Spurs thread on Twitter...which is where Arsenal fans go to talk about how terrible and awful Spurs are.SidelineCameras said:Who's trolling or complaining? Someone said Arsenal's accomplishment was amazing, I was qualifying that. 9 points off of QPR, Wigan, and Newcastle isn't amazing.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is they have 2 younger players who do basically the same things and aren't 30.Mr. Wednesday said:I can understand Spurs dumping Adebayor, but why on earth would they be interested in unloading Dempsey? He seemed to be particularly appreciated by AVB and ought to have value as a squad player even if he is superseded as a regular starter.
REAL MADRID are ready to blow Tottenham out of the water in a bid to sign Gareth Bale this summer.
The Welsh wonder has been offered a new deal to stay at Spurs worth around £150,000 a week.
It also contains a clause allowing him to leave next summer for £50m. But that does not matter to Madrid president Florentino Perez, who wants Bale NOW
dunno... rumor of Real offering that money plus one of Higuain
veritas said:I don't take anything the Sun says seriously, but IF this were the case, it'd be stupid to turn down £80-100 mil for Bale right? That's 3 £30m players they can bring in, just to replace Bale. I love Bale but to seriously contend for CL and then compete in the PL and CL, they can't be so reliant on one player.

Tottenham want Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Alen Halilovic, the 17-year-old playmaker who has been hailed as 'the new Luka Modric'. Halilovic is also a target for Manchester United and Real Madrid, but Spurs are in pole position to land the Croatian teenager.
Tottenham have already made an offer for his club-mate Tin Jedvaj, 17, and will discuss an £18m double deal with Halilovic staying on loan at Zagreb.
David Villa, the 31-year-old Barcelona striker, will decide between signing for Fiorentina or Tottenham next week.
Villa, who is set to play for Spain against Brazil in the Confederations Cup final on Sunday night, is ready to commit to Spurs as long as they can resolve the issue over the £12million fee Barca expect to receive.
URI said:Seems like Paulinho is done for £17m. If they swoop for that pair, and Villa for £12m...that puts 4 players in at £47m.
Which is odd for Levy...which makes me think either Spurs have a cash windfall somewhere, or Bale has a foot out the door. The only other players I've heard on the way out might be guys like Defoe, Huddlestone, Parker, BAE, and Adebayor, and I don't see them getting more than a combined £18m it would cost for the Zagreb pair.
Spurs are after Valencia and Spain striker Roberto Soldado
The 28-year-old Valencia star is under contract until 2017 and has a release clause of £26m. But Spurs are confident they can get him for less as the Spanish club have financial problems.
URI said:Not really.
Last year, we sold Modric for £33m, VDV for £10, the Croatians for £11m, and then Pienaar/Bassong/Gio for £12m, which is £66m.
Gylfi was £8, Lloris was £12, Dembele was £15, Duece was £6, Ade was £5, Vertonghen was £9.5, Holtby was £1.5 to get him early, and Zeki was £3. That's £60m
Spurs gained £6m via transfers last year.
soxfan121 said:Thanks...this was very helpful.
Soldado is younger...he's not better than Villa. If you can only have one, take the out-to-prove-himself Villa. If you can afford both (and it doesn't look like you can), then great.
