I would probably do Yorke/Blaze/Bastardo or something.

I wouldn't want to include Bleis. I think he's pretty unique & we'd be selling low on him due to the injury stuff this year.

Who knows what the actual ask is, though?
Same here, no Bleis.

But I'm not wild on Cease. He's very very good, but there's a velo dip this year and the fastball is now kind of mediocre. I'd be happy to acquire him but not for "the moon."

I fully expect it with Bloom.
He is only great at half of his job. He has helped rebuild the farm system, but this team has a chance to win and nothing is happening. Future success is never guaranteed, but Bloom acts like all of the prospects will be great and he can build a winner on the cheap with prospects and cast offs.

Story, Sale, Houck, and McGuire are back very soon. That's a pretty good addition.

Stand pat. We have really good guys bubbling in AA & AAA. Do not leverage the future. Our chances of winning the World Series this year are slim.

Not here
Agree to disagree. If we can win by keeping Paxton, add and go for it. If you can't, sell him for the future. And if you don't know, pick a lane. That's the job.
That's not how reality works. You can't just guarantee a win. You have to judge the probabilities and possibilities. It's easy to see a team with a starting three of Paxton, Sale, and Bello and a bullpen of Whitlock Martin and Jansen going far in the playoffs. That's significantly less true without Paxton unless he's replaced by someone comparable. Replacing him with someone comparable would be very difficult.

At the same time, the chances of actually going far in the playoffs is relatively low. There's going to be at least three or four--and probably more--teams that would be more highly favored.

What if they have enough though? What if they can win the whole thing without giving up any assets? And what if the decision maker deems, correctly, that a particular add doesn't move the needle enough to make it worth giving up the assets demanded in return? Should he just dump assets no matter which and how many to improve the team's chances, even if only by a few percentage points?

I'd be willing to bet that Bloom would do something like Yorke/Blaze/Bastardo as well, and that the White Sox want a shitload more. Which I would not do, even though I'd love to have Cease.
If the White Sox don't get blown away, they aren't moving him now.

The Red Sox aren't actually trading something of value for a guy with -1.0 fWAR.

Even if 2 Wongs do make everything alright...

Of course, because why would the Sox be in on this guy? I swear I’m really growing to hate this team
The Dodgers & Orioles are better teams with deeper farm systems. It would make sense for both to trump any reasonable Red Sox offer.

There isn't a single move to be made to improve the entire organization?
I mean, realistically, what’s out there that would justify the cost? It’s a seller’s market and while I’m definitely on team “buy” I don’t want Bloom to pay through the nose just for the sake of doing it. If nothing is there at the right price then stay disciplined and stand pat.
