I didn't notice the no FTs until they said it... that disqualifies this game as any type of meaningful data point, IMO. lol.

Calf injuries are not a good thing but better than what some are speculating on X.

Edit: Saw replay for first time. This seems like it is a calf and not an Achilles. You can tell by a players reaction….an Achilles reaction is almost always going to instinctually be to look behind them thinking someone kicked them in the calf. Giannis caught it before a full pull/tear and immediately reached for the calf.

What even just happened with the officials, though? What was the point of that? Like, clearly that was a concerted effort, and I don’t know why.

Stupid shit like this just makes the league looked rigged tbh. Not that either team was favored, but that clearly there was a pregame agenda in some capacity.

Looked like a cramp initially to me, and then pulling against the cramp as he took a step. My guess is he's more or less fine inside of a week.

Keep in mind he’s had achilles tendinitis issues on that same leg this season.

Didn’t watch the game only just saw “Achilles” trending and had a pit in my stomach for a minute.

I only watched about 10 minutes but the players generally seemed to be trying at least a bit.

2 total FTs is not a serious effort from the officials, super embarrassing for the NBA.

Don't even televise or play these games if you aren't going to officiate them.

TNT showed him walking to the locker room and while it was a gingerly gait he was pushing off his injured leg. I’ve witnessed two Achilles injuries w teammates back in the day and neither was able to do anything remotely close to what Giannis did. Who knows though.
It did look like a calf to me, but maybe an achilles strain? Either way, a fully operational Giannis for the playoffs seems unlikely at this point, given all he’s been dealing with and this.

We would have seen his calf contract if this was a cramp and the trainers treating it as a cramp which they did not do. He’d also have been in excruciating pain, much more than a strained calf or even maybe an Achilles until the contraction was rolled out.

Yeah, maybe. It's just such a strange way to strain your calf. He was barely jogging.

Cs had more offensive boards, fewer turnovers, 12 more shot attempts, and just two fewer assists on 6 fewer made shots.

They just missed 16 more threes.

I don't think the Cs deserved to win or anything, but doubt the Bucks feel great about that game, even if Giannis had finished it out.

Cs had more offensive boards because they missed so many more shots. Milwaukee had the higher offensive rebounding percentage on FGAs.

The defensive glass has been an issue the past few games, likely partially a product of the reduced urgency to win (and Horford/Porzingis being out tonight).

I didn't watch the game last night but saw the headline this morning talking about how the Celtics set a record with zero free throws taken. My immediate thought was...holy cow this had to be the most one-sided officiating game ever, what was going on? Then I saw that Milwaukee only took two free throws, and then my reaction was like...what the heck? How can a real NBA game happen where only TWO free throws total happened? If there was any attempt to play defense at all, and any attempt to try to get to the paint at all, there had to be a bunch of contact at some point in the game, and the refs just swallowed the whistle the whole game, for both teams. Boston was only called for 8 fouls total. Milwaukee just 4.

So I don't have any idea what was going on there. For those of you that watched, were the teams even TRYING? Did it look like an all-star game out there or did it look like real basketball? I see that Boston took 52 three pointers, which seems....a lot. But they also took 41 non-threes, so presumably quite a few in the paint at the rim. And not a single foul at all? If there was zero defense being played, how could Boston have only shot 39% from the floor?

Has to be the strangest game in memory.

Officials let a ton of contact go at both ends. It was bizarre. Not a great look, IMO.

it was wierd with so many no calls on legitiimate hacks--which is fine if we are going back to the 80s but someone is going to get hurt. Also I thought the Tilman pick up was good at first but not sure he adds much??

With the lack of shots of either coach doing much complaining, it almost looked like tacit agreement on both sides to just get it over with. The game was so fast the TNT crew was playing charades between games. Never seen anything like it.
