Today
City vs. Bayern
Benfica vs. Inter

Tomorrow
Real Madrid vs. Chelsea
AC Milan vs. Napoli

Looking at City's lineup with 4 natural CBs, Rodri, 4 attack-minded MF/wingers and Haaland and I am wondering if Pep's galaxy-brained himself again with this 3-2-4-1. Been working well the last few weeks though.

My current vibe is "Davies murders a CB pretending to be a FB to make the difference", but man, there's always Haaland.

I’m not entirely sure but I’d say City’s form looks more like a standard 4-3-3. Dias and Stones are playing centrally, Akanji at right back, Ake at left back, then Rodri at CDM and KDB and Gundogan as the other two CMs, up front it’s Bernardo at right wing, Grealish at left wing and Haaland at center forward. Stones is pushing up pretty far into the midfield but he drops back to CB out of possession.

So far on the "CBs pretending to be FBs" watch, Ake looks completely comfortable (makes sense, he does this often), Akanji wide vs. Sane/Davies is looking like a problem for City.

EDIT: Damn, Rodri!

Fun match so far. Good pace, both teams going for it.
Reminds me of classic Madrid-Barca derbies, when both teams were stacked and both sides went full tilt in the first half sprinting up and down and both teams having to match the intensity lest they fall behind. Gonna be a slower half unless we see a slew of subs. Good thing both teams have world class players on the bench too.

Thought it was a really strong half from City, created almost all the best chances and while Bayern did get into the attacking third at times, City's defense was quick to get back and snuff out any big chances. Bayern isn't toothless, but you can see the lack of a high quality striker where Lewandowski used to be. Musiala leads them in goals in the Bundesliga with 11 goals, which isn't particularly impressive. They kind of feel like City pre-Haaland and post-Aguero, where they had tons of attacking talent, but were missing that player in the middle that was at the level of the rest of the team.

City has been in scary good form for a little while now. They've really found something with this setup where Stones plays the inverted fullback role and with Grealish and Mahrez out wide.

A lot has to go right and we all know that Pep famously always finds a way to screw up in the CL. But I think the treble is a real possibility.

Osimhen is out today for Napoli. That’s a big loss, his ability to make runs behind the defense really adds a dimension to Napoli’s attack. Simone is also out so this is Raspadori’s big chance.

Chelsea rolling with a 3-5-2, so Boehly’s 0-3 prediction probably calls for multiple own goals by Real Madrid.

Hudson is better at psychotic semi-poetry than he is at actual analysis.

Gaga would've had that.

Kind of lame that paramount+ has the Serie A matchup. It’s easiest enough to stream but lame.

What should NobblyDobbly do down a man and a goal? Shell up and focus on goal differential or actually attempt to tie this shit up. Of course they’ll play counters if they present themselves but what’s the strategy?
