I think the Jets are absolutely dark horse SB contenders. If they can navigate the next 5 weeks at like 2-3 or 3-2 theyll have a chance to finish w/ 9 or 10 wins. And 3-2 in their next 5 absolutely not outside the realm of possibility. Didn't San Diego just go in to KC and take the Chiefs to OT? Didn't the Garopollo and Gronk-less Pats just win @ Arizona? And the Ravens, who scored 13 points on the Bills 5 days ago, are suddenly too tough to handle at home? Can you think of much bigger mismatches in the entire league than the Seahawks sieve of an offensive line against Wilkerson, Richardson, and Williams?
They didn't "give up 31 points last night". 7 came on a fumble 6 and 7 came in run out the clock mode where they clearly were allowing things to happen in front of them to run out the clock. Revis got torched for a touchdown, and there was a completely busted coverage for another after they allowed Tyrod to escape the pocket. Those last two TDs are obviously problematic, but I would hardly say that their defense is terrible.
They have one of the best receiving cores in the league, they can absolutely win in the trenches on defense, and they've shown the ability to run the ball somewhat capably through two games. They need to shore up the play in the secondary, I don't think its outside the realm of possibility that they do that. Their main issue remains that they have a volatile option at quarterback who will probably never look as good the rest of the season as he did last night. That will probably do them in in the long run. But completely overlooking them is foolish. I'd say they're right ahead of Oakland as the 5th best team in the conference right now, and not far behind Denver and Cincinnati.
