Other than giving up a blocked kick, which I imagine will happen at some point, is there any major mistake the Bucs haven't made tonight?  Seriously.  Botched snaps, huge penalties, kick return td's, fumbles, pick 6's, more penalties, huge missed tackles, sacks given up, the list is endless.  Basically, every single thing you don't want to do in a game, because any single big mistake could cost you the game, and they've done all of them in the same game.

This could be one of the worst games ever played by an NFL team.  And I say that with no hyperbole at all.  They literally have done the absolute worst possible thing they could do on about 80% of the snaps.  Like, you couldn't do any worse.

I was about to type that this was the worst performance I've ever seen by an NFL team...
but then as a Dolphins fan, sadly, I remembered their 62-7 playoff loss to the Jags.

I've tried to block that game from memory, but it likely could have been worse. Can't think of anything else though, Tampa's been beyond pathetic. Yeah Thursday Night Football.

Imagine if that push-off hadn't been called in a close game.  I hate when refs call the game differently in different situations, there's a rulebook for a reason.

Um. I have the TV on mute but it appears that both Deion and Hester are embracing and crying... like a lot.

I feel bad for Logan. It's gotta be rough going from such a winning organization, to these Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
They approached him to restructure his deal, no? He could have taken less to stay with a good team.

Don't fault anyone for taking the money, but don't feel bad either.

Absolutely. And if you don't play for what the Pats want they will send you to NFL hell. See Seymour with Oakland and now Mankins with Tampa.

There's no evidence that either player was purposely sent to an undesirable location out of spite. Those teams had a need that the players met.

RW, I said it last night at the time, but I would seriously make the argument that it was the worst performance by an NFL team in history.  This wasn't a case of a bad day, turnovers, etc.  Every single play involved a massive, game-changing level fuckup by Tampa Bay.  When they got a first down, they were flagged for holding. When they got positive yardage, they got flagged for a personal foul.  When they intercepted a pass, they fumbled it back on the same play.  They gave up kick return td's, pick sixes, their defense literally did not tackle anyone.  Until the last 5 minutes or so, they could not have played worse.  Literally, they ended up with the worst possible outcome on about 80% of the plays in the game.  It's almost impossible to overstate how bad of a game this was for Tampa Bay.

That said, TB is dealing with injuries, especially on defense.  They are decimated, so they should have gotten killed last night, but getting beat 38-10 is something that happens.  Making the worst possible play on every play and going down 56-0 is a totally different story.  There was no discipline, no heart, nothing.  It was truly the worst game of football I've ever seen a team play.  They are talented enough and actually made some plays, but they fumbled it away or got a penalty or made some other mistake every single time.  I might go back and watch it again the next time I feel like the Patriots play a bad game, so I can remember what a real bad game actually looks like.

I highly doubt the Pats would have sent either player to a rival team. The only reason they dealt Bledsoe to Buffalo was likely it was the best offer and they knew he was pretty much done as a player.

Quite possibly not even the worst performance of the Bucs in history. December 5, 1976, they lost 42-0 to Pitt, becoming the only underdog in NFL history to not cover a 20.5+ point spread.

I think they got the best offer on the table for both Mankins and Seymour as well.

I agree- there have been worse performances, but I don't remember seeing one personally.

It really did look like an SEC team beating up on the School for the Blind in the first week of the season. TB looked completely inept and demoralized.

If the Falcons had wanted to, I really think they could have broken the 100 point barrier.

Probably....Seymour was a no brainer. On Mankins they found a sucker to take him because if they didn't he could have been a surprise cut.

Guys, you can't compare the games by the final score.  I watched that Tennessee/Patriots game, and it was bad, don't get me wrong, but last night was way, way worse than that.  That 42-0 loss, forget it.  Not even in the same breath, especially with the parity in today's NFL.  At least in the Tennessee game, Chris Johnson ran for 128 yards and they only made 5 penalties.  Tennessee had 5 turnovers just like TB did last night, but this was worse.  Atlanta turned the ball over FOUR times yesterday and still managed to score 56 points, and could have probably scored 80-90 if they wanted to do so.  You have to really go back and chart the plays to see what I'm talking about.  Every single play was a gut shot to Tampa Bay.  On top of the 5 turnovers, they made 11 penalties, all of which seemed to come at the worst possible moment.  It was truly, truly embarrassing in every sense of the word.  This isn't a case of a team being completely overmatched like those two games noted above.  TB was only a 6.5 point dog, and they have a bunch of talented players on both sides of the ball.  Like I said, they should have lost, and probably should have lost by 2-3 touchdowns, but this, this was atrocious.

Think there's some recency bias rearing its head here, particularly in making definitive statements about a game played 40 years ago than none of us saw.

I think the result was so surprising because Atlanta is considered a middle of the road team this year. They just lost 24-10 to Cincinnati. If the this was the 2007 Pats, it would not be so shocking. Atlanta was good but TB was really bad. The Falcons got their first sacks of the season in this game. This Falcons defense is bad, possibly one of the worst units in the league.
