Hard not to watch and wonder what they would have done with Mac.
I believe what you see Purdy doing is what Mac would be there. The infrastructure in place in SF, talent and coaching, would’ve been perfect for him. Makes sense that the reports of Shannahan preferring Mac to Lance leaked out.

The talent and speed level in this game is a stark contrast to watching the patriots

I think it would look worse. Purdy is much better in small spaces, quicker, much better creator off structure and to me seems like a faster processor as well. I mean, the offense looks markedly better than it did with Jimmy G and what indication has Mac given that he's even a Jimmy G level QB?

It's the great unknown. We don't know what Mac would look like in Year 3 of a Shanahan offense. We know what he's looked like in a McDaniels-Patricia-O'Brien twirl-a-whirl. Who's to say that the consistency and better talent in SF wouldn't have produced a better version of Mac?

I don’t watch enough 49rs games but it seems Purdy gets the ball out quick to his first read. The motion/playcalls are more impressive than anything.

Even the off structure throw for the TD to Kittle seemed to be more playcall as all he had to do was slide over, step up, and deliver the ball to a wide open Kittle coming across the end zone.

Purdy goes through progressions better than any niner QB since Young.

He’s not a first read guy at all.

He’s limited, that’s not his limit.

I think that recovery should stand.

If we had a microscope, I'd bet it wasn't recovered without touching a body part OOB. But given the replays we have available, I don't see anything conclusive to overturn it.

That could have hit like 5 people or bounced a bunch of different ways, but it somehow missed everyone and stayed in and got recovered half an inch from the border.

I think they're going to say it hit a player who was OOB, but I suck at this

I don't know that it would look better with Mac or not, but this offense looked pretty awesome when Jimmy G. was healthy too.

In 2019, when Deebo was a rookie who caught 57 passes (wasn't used in the running game yet), and they had Emmanuel Sanders and Kendrick Bourne as their #3 and #4, Jimmy completed 69% of his passes, for almost 4,000 yards, 27tds, 13ints and a 102.0 rating. They went 13-3, scored the 2nd most points in the NFL and had the 4th most yards on offense, they rolled the NFC playoffs and then lost to the Chiefs. He looked really good last year too until he got hurt.

This offense really went crazy when they went and got CMC in week 7 or whatever last season. When you have to put 7-8 men in the box to stop him, it leaves guys like Deebo, Aiyuk and Kittle running free. Not to mention having the best FB in the game, IMO, and an awesome offensive line. It's like the perfect 2023 offense.

Pop Douglas is one of those guys you could see going crazy on either of these teams, too. Not sure he'd start at this point, but definitely a potential future starter.

The 9ers are loaded. Health will be a huge factor, but just really impressive to watch. Talent everywhere. Well coached. Stark contrast to the NEP.

Was that the exact same play Detroit scored with earlier in the day to LaPorta?

The niners don’t have the best offense I’ve ever seen, but they have crazy talent at more positions than I’ve ever seen. They have the best rb in the league, two great receivers, and a top 5 tight end. And a great oline. Insanity

The 9ers roster is really good under any circumstances…that’s it’s this good in spite of the Lance pick is just amazing

What’s after them? I would guess early 90s Cowboys.

It’s a weird question, because having great skill positions doesn’t always lead to winning. Like the Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jefferys bears were crazy talented but weren’t crazy good. I honestly can’t remember a team that had two receivers as good as Deebo and Aiyuk, an all down and receiving RB like mccaffrey, a tight end like kittle, a great oline, and even a great fullback. Idk who second would be but I can’t remember a collection of talent like this

I go to a lot of 49ers games. Jimmy G was part of some really good offenses in SF, but it always looked just a little off. It looks better with Purdy, at least it does watching from the stands.

Just stay healthy, Niners. Need you to take out Philly and the Swifties.
They likely won't be the Swifties by the time they can potentially meet. Travlor will almost certainly be over by then and she'll already have a new breakup single out shading Kelce's mom.
