At least try for a Flacco. You might get it.Dalton throws the ball away on 4th down, while rolling out and no one near him. That's good QBing right there Andy.
I have not broken it down frame by frame, but the replays suggest the defender comes down in possession. Thus, Richardson's foot is irrelevant. No way it is a pick, I don't think. Richardson is clearly touching the ball with a foot out of bounds before the defender establishes sole possession. It's either a TD or incomplete.
The announcer (Romo I think) seemed to think that was a call by the upback because no one was covering the WR and he has the ability to check to the fake if he gets the right look. I would guess that's pretty standard. Why would you run a fake punt up 12 with 6 minutes left (as the Steelers just did)? Even if you're totally sure it will work you just gave everyone film of that play for about 0.3% increase in your win expectancy.
PATRICK Chung agrees? The announcer (Romo I think) seemed to think that was a call by the upback because no one was covering the WR and he has the ability to check to the fake if he gets the right look. I would guess that's pretty standard.
That was one of the worst QB plays in NFL historyDalton throws the ball away on 4th down, while rolling out and no one near him. That's good QBing right there Andy.
Because Mike Tomlin wanted to say a big FUCK YOU to Marvin Lewis? Why would you run a fake punt up 12 with 6 minutes left (as the Steelers just did)? Even if you're totally sure it will work you just gave everyone film of that play for about 0.3% increase in your win expectancy.
Sure. My point applies to him too. It was a nice play, I would have saved it for a better situation. The announcer (Romo I think) seemed to think that was a call by the upback because no one was covering the WR and he has the ability to check to the fake if he gets the right look. This strikes me as kinda silly. The only thing anyone learned is that if they don't cover the split end on the punt team at all, the team might throw to him. Well, duh.Sure. My point applies to him too. It was a nice play, I would have saved it for a better situation.
This season is not over yet, we'll see how it plays out. This one?
There was a time, a few years ago, when I defended Andy Dalton and called him a "top-half-of-the-league quarterback".Dalton throws the ball away on 4th down, while rolling out and no one near him. That's good QBing right there Andy.
You may be right about that on both counts.Yeah best thing to happen this year to the team. The shirt looks amazing.
How about zero Week 8 matchups pairing teams with winning records?Every single team in the NFL this year is fraudulent. Will probably make for some very good late season drama, but boy am I struggling to watch more than 15 minutes of non-Patriots matchups.
And I was about to say we had a game without a felony committed by Burfict. Par for the course for that shithead.Sooooo.... about Vontaze Burfict. Yeah....
Try to rank the quarterbacks and you won’t be so hard on yourself. If you just go by current level of play (so guys like Trubisky are lower) he’s on the borderline. The QB situation is not good. There was a time, a few years ago, when I defended Andy Dalton and called him a "top-half-of-the-league quarterback".
I have caught more than my share of shit for a few things I've said; that was one of the times where I caught far less shit than I should have.
That's a great punt. But the thing that stands out to me is how embarrassingly empty that stadium is. It looks like a D3 college team getting blown out, but it's an NFL team on their way to a big shut out division win.
What a punt.
It's not just empty, it's a tiny 28,000 seat stadium that's empty. That's a great punt. But the thing that stands out to me is how embarrassingly empty that stadium is. It looks like a D3 college team getting blown out, but it's an NFL team on their way to a big shut out division win.
There were a ton of Broncos fans who left once it was a blowout. But that's not good either. That's a great punt. But the thing that stands out to me is how embarrassingly empty that stadium is. NFL changed their October campaign this year to "Crucial Catch" encompassing other forms of cancer. Two random observations:
1) Through week 7, your conference leaders in point margin are the Jacksonville Jaguars and the LA Rams, and neither race is particularly close
2) Just me, or has there been a LOT less pink this October?
Thanks. I assume we will still see a lot of camo in November.NFL changed their October campaign this year to "Crucial Catch" encompassing other forms of cancer.
They are 5 and 2 for freaking sakes. Even before last night, the D had shown signs of improvement. Let's let the season play out before calling it a waste. I mean they won the Super Bowl last year whereas Denver has missed the playoffs 2 straight years. Big difference. This one?
This is correct and I think the league really screwed itself over when it decided to emphasize the QB situation where there aren't 32 people in the world who can play the position.Try to rank the quarterbacks and you won’t be so hard on yourself. This is a good point. While Rodgers will likely play another 5+ years, I could see Ben, Brady, and Brees all retired by 2020 ish. Rivers too. While that gives the league a few years to develop QBs, it doesn't look promising at this point, unless the 2018 class is as special as it is being touted. This is correct and I think the league really screwed itself over when it decided to emphasize the QB situation where there aren't 32 people in the world who can play the position.
I mean if you take away Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, and Rivers - the last of the old guard - who is the best active QB in the NFL. Wilson? It's hard to say that given his OL. Wentz?
The NFL has terrible OL play and a dearth of starting QBs. That's a pretty bad combo for a passing driven league.
I don't think there's a dearth of QBs in an absolute sense, only a relative one. Someone has to be the 24th-best QB in the league and that team is going to go 6-10 or whatever. You will never have 32 desirable QBs because that will just move the bar on what performance is considered desirable. This is correct and I think the league really screwed itself over when it decided to emphasize the QB situation where there aren't 32 people in the world who can play the position.

He was never that highly rated around here, at least, mostly due to his volume-driven counting stats and propensity for INTs that never really went down as he grew into the league. He's an above-average thrower of NFL footballs but may in fact be an average QB overall. But his dead cap right now is $41.6M and the next 3 years is $22.2, $12.8 and $6.4, so you'd have to bet on him riding it out through 2018, probably 2019, barring a major deterioration in skills rather than just a lack of further improvement.Whither Andrew Luck? It's amazing how quickly and how far his stock has fallen.
Man, if only someone who doesn't even know that much about football had been saying Luck sucks for years.Luck may be on his way to Jim Plunkett 2.0. Both had the crap beat out of them. Both had teams with significant deficiencies supporting them. I hope not for Luck's sake, but that's the way recent years are trending. On the plus side, Plunkett eventually found success with the Raiders.
Extra bonus points for Marshall... the Jets have more victories and might be playing meaningful games later into the year.Giants: 1-6, headed toward picking a QB and kicking Eli to the curb; bonus points for Brandon Marshall not going to the playoffs yet again
