Detroit, Montreal, Pittsburgh and Chicago seems like a pretty awesome Stanley Cup march for the Bruins.

Hard to see anybody in the West beating Chicago.  Anaheim (if they get past Dallas) has been real sketchy, Colorado (if they get past Minnesota) has some big injuries and zero experience, LA/SJ are both who knows what you're going to get.  Crawford just has to hold the fort.

Miller will jump ship to Anaheim and Ott is a FA. Blues' GM is normally on point, but he swung and missed badly on this one.

why would Anaheim sign a goalie when they have Anderssen and John Gibson?

What choice did he have?  They were considered a piece or so away from a serious run, the piece being the netminder.  He went out and got the best one available.  Ott had a pretty nice series from my point of view.  Miller, predictably, came up small, but would Halak done any better?  Doubtful.

I never saw Miller as the savior. They played strong team defense and could win 1-goal games behind either goalie already on the team. They needed a scorer.

I think Vancouver and Washington are the two obvious options

I hope not. I am hoping Washington targets Niskanen and Nikitin with their money instead. I have no problem rolling with Holtby/Grubauer next season.

We joke about the Bruins, but don't Armstrong and Hitchcock have some questions to answer?
I don't know...granted going out in the first round is a disappointment, but they drew Chicago. If they regress next season and/or fail to win a round again then I think the heat will be on.

Agreed. With a better d-corps that goalie tandem will be just fine. I wouldn't want to give a goalie the kind of money Miller will command unless he's truly elite, and Miller isn't.

The Blues drew Chicago because they crashed a burned the final 2 weeks of the regular season, losing their final 6 games. No one to blame but themselves.

Yep. That was a reaaallly dirty hit though. Them the guy gets popped for another hit to the head a minute later.

2-0 Stars on a nice pass and shoot by Seguin and Eakin.

I thought it was going to be a clean hit until Roussel turned at the last moment. The hit after that was really dirty, he's lucky he didn't hit him a bit higher. A clear launch.

Andersen needs to save that puck. Nice play, but he had a clean look and it was right at him.

I'll have to rewatch but I thought he had time after Roussel turned to avoid pile driving him into the boards.

edit: rewatched. Agree, Roussel pretty much turned into that.

That was a shitty defensive play, but Andersen should be able to square that up and make the stop.

Seguin draws the penalty with the chicken wing. Dallas could put it away here.

those matching minors they called instead of fighting majors wound up being big. Think I'd take 5 on 4 over 6 on 5 every time

I was planning on switching over to AMC for the repeat running of Mad Men.

Oh well. Guess I'll just have to settle for MORE PLAYOFF HOCKEY.

Just curious--why didn't they let them fight once they dropped the gloves?

My assumption is that because of how tense everyone was with play around the net, they didn't want it to escalate into a full-fledged brawl.

I have this suspicion that the officials and teams have been told to eliminate/diminish fighting in the playoffs, when casual fans (who may be turned off by fighting) are more likely to watch.
