And if you don’t get it, you’ve only ceded field position that’s unlikely to matter. You can’t allow two first downs regardless, so risking field position just doesn’t matter as much as the win expectancy hit incurred by freely giving up possession.

to be fair if they didn't call a blatant grab and a headshot on 3rd down (or literally anything in the 2nd half including multiple headshots on the QB) they weren't calling anything on 4th.

Anyone who knows anything about football knew that Hutchinson was going to try to get a sack to knock the Rams out of FG range on that key third down play. Not chipping or double teaming him was coaching malpractice. Like the Falcons in the Super Bowl, the offense can’t lose yards by sack or penalty in that situation.
What a potential weird mix of QBs in the divisional round. Stroud, Goff, Love, Mahomes. Maybe Rudolph, Mayfield.
The winning QB was 4 for 18 with 38 yards and a pick. Man, the game has changed....

I assumed their K couldn’t hit that distance, some or not, they didn’t even seem to consider the FG and the teams obviously know their K’s ranges.
Didn't they just grab Brett Maher off the scrap heap? That might explain why they didn't have a lot of faith in him making a 61 yarder.
And, yes, he made 63 and 62 yarders…..5-6 years ago. What matters is what distance he was hitting in pregame.
Didn't realize at the time... the guy who blew out Higbee's knee is Kerby Joseph... same guy who blew out TJ Hockenson's knee in the same way.
