Agreed. I tend to think the cut indicates he was told to fair catch or let it go and freelanced...though it is certainly also conceivable otherwise, too.Hmm. Could have happened anyway -- bit of a roster crunch as folks get healthy (hopefully).
But it does make me wonder whether he was told not to field that punt.
Right that's what I meant by "roster crunch with people getting healthy."Orrrrrr....they're just moving him back to the practice squad because they expect Amendola back next week and want to the roster spot for something else.
Josh Boyce was waived with an injury designation. Once he cleared waivers, he automatically went to the Patriots injured reserve. So he's on IR for the season. It may also signal another WR will be on the roster soon. Someone like Boyce.
It also may be good news on the Amendola front.

Here's the roster with his current designation.
I was unaware until I saw a Kyed tweet last week. No way to keep up with all those roster moves, he was moved when the rosters were cut to 75.Thanks, I missed that the injury designation meant he is IR for the season.
This is my pick for most likely.Orrrrrr....they're just moving him back to the practice squad because they expect Amendola back next week and want to the roster spot for something else.
I don't think he was told not to field it, It wasn't like it was at the 5 yard line. I think he was just told not to drop it.Hmm. Could have happened anyway -- bit of a roster crunch as folks get healthy (hopefully).

I think it's unlikely he was told to not field the punt under any circumstances, but considering they didn't put anyone back to field the next punt he was probably told not to take any chances. Field position was not the concern there.I don't think he was told not to field it, It wasn't like it was at the 5 yard line. I think he was just told not to drop it.
C'mon, the real story is Brady threatened to quit if Harper wasn't cut on Monday. He's going to the practice squad so they can add another LB or TE.
Check the Goat thread.Who's "blaming" the coaches for anything here?
Funny this comes up now since Jimmy Johnson's A Football Life was on last night. There was a scene with BB and JJ on his fishing boat, and JJ is describing his rules for acquiring players, and said #1 is to avoid stupid players. BB responded with "you taught me that well."Sure you can, rookies do dumb things all the time.
He is not going to get the chance in that role the rest of this season. I will put $1000 to the JF on it.Sure you can, rookies do dumb things all the time.
In fact, with the signing of WR/KR Damaris Johnson the Patriots career of Chris Harper (cleared waivers) seems to have ended in a poor fashion. He is not going to get the chance in that role the rest of this season. I will put $1000 to the JF on it.
