That's pretty far down the list of things I wish these days, but yesI wish someone had a picture of Montgomery's insert

Oh, I see. Monty had all but retired when I started watching. Not true ... Montgomery wore an insert. Olerud wore a helmet
Wise ass.I wish someone had a picture of Montgomery's insert
Calderon's a good one. I see that he only had 213 AB with the Sox and was with them for only one season. For some reason I would have guessed that he had spent a few years with them.See nobody has mentioned Ivan Calderon yet.
Then comes convulsions and vomiting.Eric Gagne comes to mind.
Good one, I had indeed totally forgotten we had that guy. 2002 is a gold mine for this category. Benny Agbayani!Darren Oliver
Carl Everett is impossible to forget so by extension so is Darren Oliver. I remember Gammons trying to spin the trade to make it even worse than it was... by saying the Sox were paying all of Carl's contract and taking on Darren Oliver's contract. Gammons hated DD so much.Good one, I had indeed totally forgotten we had that guy. 2002 is a gold mine for this category. Benny Agbayani!
A glass half empty guy would say that the Sox made a dumb deal giving up John Tudor (who had some great seasons a year or two later) for a DH.This is a funny thread, cuz if you remember the guy was a Red Sock, he can’t really make your list! But one guy who frequently slips my mind is the Hit Man, Mike Easler.
who pissed and moaned about playing time while he was here, finally got released and picked up by the Angels....and lasted all of two games there.Mike Marshall the 1B/OF
Ding, ding, ding! Winner, winner, chicken dinner right there. Future Jeopardy question.Pat Mahomes
I think Craig Robinson holds the record with most PA in a season without either. Maybe it's been surpassed. He had 2 SF in 148 PA but that doesn't affect batting average or OBP at all. Sac bunts can actually make your OBP lower than your batting average.who pissed and moaned about playing time while he was here, finally got released and picked up by the Angels....and lasted all of two games there.

You'll notice his season w/the Sox/Angels, he came up to the plate 69 times, no walks, no hbp, no sacs. Exactly the same ba and obp....how many times does that happen with that many at bats?
Seriously. Although this thread jogged my memory of Frank Viola in the 90's.This is a funny thread, cuz if you remember the guy was a Red Sock, he can’t really make your list! But one guy who frequently slips my mind is the Hit Man, Mike Easler.
Just like Schill!Shane Rawley. Told me once at his restaurant that when he signed the contract (1990) he knew he'd never pitch again and just screwed the Sawx for the money.
How could anyone forget?Has anyone yet mentioned Cesar Crespo?
Every name in this thread from the 1993 Red Sox on, I remember as being a Red Sox. Until you mentioned JT Snow. For me, you win the thread.JT Snow.
Didn’t Gabbard throw a CGSHO in 2007? And speaking of forgotten Sox, Devern Hansack.Damn you beat me to Adam Hyzdu by 5 minutes. I remember thinking Kason Gabbard had potential and then immediately wiping him from my memory.
Shourek was an original here on SoSH. LJ fucking went insane when he pitched. If the wiki was still up Sure Wreck was one of the original nicknamesAdam Stern, David Riske, Pete Schourek, Wes Chamberlain, Boof Bonser, Tony Womack, George Kottarras.
Also Adam Hyzdu. Does anyone remember the story with him? Baseball reference says Boston traded him to SD in March 2005, then traded for him in July of the same year.
Remember when he rookie card was one of those elite ones that you had to have ?Every name in this thread from the 1993 Red Sox on, I remember as being a Red Sox. Until you mentioned JT Snow. For me, you win the thread.
I sure do. The Angels had a lot of young big-deal talent back then. JT Snow, Tim Salmon, Darin Erstad, Jim Edmonds…Remember when he rookie card was one of those elite ones that you had to have ?
How could anyone forget The Lobsterman, the pride of Pearl Lagoon? His not-a-no-hitter on the last day of the season was the only good thing that happened in 2006.Didn’t Gabbard throw a CGSHO in 2007? And speaking of forgotten Sox, Devern Hansack.
Sauerbeck of that infamous trade/tradebacks with the PiratesRolando Arrojo
Scott Sauerbeck
Frank Viola
Okay, I'm not sure if this is what was intended, but I've constructed the Swan Song Sox team. All of these players ended their MLB careers in a SINGLE year with Boston, after playing the rest of their careers with other teams. Hope I got it all right, but it worked surprisingly well. We could field a team! There really ought to be a Swan-Song Sox category.
He threw a no hitter for the Redsox and lost the game doing so. That was game 1 of a double hitter where the Sox lost 2-1.Matt Young. I was hopeful he would fulfill his potential. I watched him as a Mariner. Sigh.
I would wager that the best moment of ‘06 was Papi smoking that homer off of Cleveland to walk it off.How could anyone forget The Lobsterman, the pride of Pearl Lagoon? His not-a-no-hitter on the last day of the season was the only good thing that happened in 2006.
It’s a great list of random guys who won rings in 2004: Phil Seibel, Jamie Brown, Earl Snyder, Sandy Martinez, Jimmy Anderson…Jimmy Anderson?
Not that bad if we’re getting everyone in their prime. Maybe throw in Dempster on the back end.Okay, I'm not sure if this is what was intended, but I've constructed the Swan Song Sox team. All of these players ended their MLB careers in a SINGLE year with Boston, after playing the rest of their careers with other teams. Hope I got it all right, but it worked surprisingly well. We could use some more starting pitching here, and honestly this team is pretty bad, but we could field a team!
