YouTube announces Sunday Ticket Pricing

I got my code from fanduel -- pricing for stand alone (no youtube tv) is $349 or $389 with red zone, which is I think what we expected. Not bad for a $5 bet.
Did you get the standalone ST or bundle it with YouTubeTV? FanDuel just sent me a code, but YT keeps telling me it’s only for ST+YTTV and now I’m stuck in customer service hell being pingponged between the two of them.

I haven't signed up yet -- I have the FD code but had not tried it yet. I was sort of waiting to sort out what tv package I'm going to get before buying ST.

If you subscribe to YouTube TV they are now offering $50 off of the ST+RZ package so its $339 per year after discount. Check your emails/spam but you might be able to change in your subscription section too. It says this discount is available until 9/18.

If anyone lives outside New England, has Fubo, and has family in the Patriots' broadcast area, change your ZIP code to that area of New England. You will get the local cable affiliates and RSN's like NBC Sports Boston and NESN. All you have to do is give your login to a family member or a friend in that ZIP code and have them sign in once-a-month. I went on vacation to Cape Cod this summer and changed my ZIP to Falmouth's. I got back home, never updated it back, and I've had all the local Boston CBS/NBC/ABC/FOX and the 2 RSN's ever since. So I'll be able to watch the Patriots all year long without having to look for an illegal stream or pay for Sunday Ticket which I was contemplating doing.

It’s good for either. I gave my code to my cousin who was able to redeem it for stand-alone Sunday Ticket.

Anyone have any high school age kids in the New England area looking to make an easy ten bucks a month?

Kidding.

Sort of.

I'll be in Boston in a few weeks and I'm going to see if this works with Hulu. Thanks.

Now on day 5 with Youtube's customer service. The main issue is that Fanduel never sent me a signup link after I signed up for their offer and subsequently sent me just a code. But there's no option to enter a promo code when signing up for standalone Sunday Ticket (only if you are also getting YouTubeTV), so I've been stuck in a loop between 3 different YT CSRs all trying to get me to just signup for YTTV, which I don't need and would defeat the purpose of the special offer.

Finally ditching Spectrum Cable TV (should have a long time ago) and went with YoutubeTV and the $50 NFL package discount.

Pretty annoying that you can’t cancel Spectrum for a prorated portion of the month. I am stuck paying for all of September even if I cancel right now.

I don’t care care who is “right” in the Disney/Spectrum stalemate. But do they think people are going to actually pay for cable TV that doesn’t have ABC and all the ESPNs?

Definitely the thing that pushed my laziness about dealing with this over the edge.

Haha, this doesn't surprise me. I need them for internet and am lazy.... but just about everyone I know is already Hulu Live or YouTube TV (though I guess you can't get the local Dodgers games on TV?).

I get the NFL package every year anyway for the Patriots since I live in LA so figured YouTube TV made more sense. I'm sure the strategy YouTubeTV is banking on.

Worked like a charm. I asked both YouTube and FanDuel if they could just generate a new email and they couldn’t seem to figure it out. Huge thanks for the assist, probably saved me another two days in customer service limbo.

So that works as a standalone or do I need a separate YouTube TV package?
Complete standalone. You watch through the YouTube App on your device or on your smart tv. The only catch is that it’s a single stream, although you can multi-box games with that single stream.

We were trying to figure out whether RedZone is separate from that single stream, as it's an add-on to the student rate. So, can my son (the .edu account) watch a game on one TV while we have RedZone on through that account on another one?

Red Zone is $40 more for the season.

Just as a little aside, we determined that the Sunday Ticket pricing was just too much this year. Previously, we got by on student discounts.

For anyone looking for a cheaper alternative, we are doing NFL+ Premium (80$US) to watch the games; however, the thing with them is you can't watch the games until 10 minutes after the final whistle.

We'll see how it goes; I plan on avoiding spoilers and no SoSH lurking until I've seen the replay. Luckily they have an option to hide the scores.

You can have 3 simultaneous streams, so I'll be able to watch the Pats' replay while my wife can watch her team's replay.
A couple questions about this:
  • Do you order this thru nfl.com or some other site?
  • Can you pause/rewind/fast forward
  • Are there commercials or are you getting an edited stream?

With the student rate, I believe the answer is “no”. I think it’s one stream only, including Red Zone.

I linked this in my post above. You might find an answer here.
The closest I could find to your question was this:
  • Student Plans do not include family sharing, and only include one signed-in device and one concurrent stream at a time.

I’d like to add - can you record a game or start to watch it later? I haven’t been able to find an answer anywhere. Most Sundays, I can’t start watching the Pats until noon PT (I’m on the west coast). Directv’s Sunday ticket was perfect for this.

My guess on this would be no, because that’s one of the perks of NFL+. Previous versions of Sunday Ticket didn’t allow for this either.

Here's the link for NFL+ Premium:

https://www.nfl.com/plus/learn-more

Regarding pausing, etc., I'm not really sure, as we haven't experienced watching a regular season game yet, but in the preseason, watching them back, yes, you can. And at least for the preseason games, there were no commercials when watched back.

Correct.

@DourDoerr, my plan is to sit down once the 2nd slot afternoon games begin, wait a little while (10 minutes after final whistle is when games are up), & then pull up the game. Avoiding spoilers & setting up the settings to not show the score work in favour here. Then I can be all caught up by the evening (assuming mostly noon start-times) & paying a fraction of the cost, lol.

Semi-related, anyone know if hotels that have the fuller DIrectv package will be getting Red Zone, or odds on it? 50/50? 25/75?

I also see that Paramount+ is showing NFL games if you are a subscriber. Its not clear to me if you can watch out of market games or if you can watch them from the beginning after the snap.
Last year they would show you whatever game was being played on the local CBS affiliate.

Does that mean I could have my niece, who doesn’t give a shot about football, sign up for me and then I’d be the only one using the stream?
Yes, this is what I did for my daughter. I signed up using her eligibility but used my email/password. All I needed was her school/dob. Depending on the school, you may need a class schedule or id photo. But once they’ve done sheerid once, this is unnecessary.

if anyone is a Premier League fan, you can also get Peacock Premium for $1.99/mo with the same sheerid login

Hmm. They do allow you to connect via your cable subscriber -- since we have a Cape house, we have regular cable there via Xfinity. So maybe I can use that to get the Boston feed for Pats games on CBS.

I wonder if I can do the same for any Fox games.

General NFL TV question: are the 4:30 games always "National" broadcasts?

Awesome! But looking into this more closely, I noticed this: Enter your full name, email, date of birth, and student info, including the country or region where your institution is located and your institution’s name,

Since it's google and they know everything, would they care if I'm in a totally different state from my niece's college?

My daughter is in a different state and it let me log in without issue. I suppose it could be different on game day but I doubt they want to deal with questions of whether someone is home on break or lives just across a border.

Since only one log in is allowed, I don't think they would care that much. They have the student's verification and that's it.
This is not like Netflix banning sharing which had people in different households using it at the same time.

As to the bolded, is this package available overseas if I can get the student discount? I do have a College student daughter and may jump on this.

Edit: Looks like I can get NFL+ Season Pass for 4 payments of $21.75 over here. That's even better. I will defintely think about it, although I am missing much of weeks 2-5 because of the Jewish Holidays.

Sorry for the confusion. I was thinking Manchester NH instead of Boston MA, not country to country.

Should I have mentioned that I did this with a dvr? I absolutely could record games on DIRECTV ‘s Sunday ticket. I’d set the recorder for the Pats game and it’d record it and it would be waiting in my playlist when I was ready to watch whether it was an hour or a day later. Probably watched 5 regular season Pats games live over the last 5 years. Saved countless hours.
