I don't know if that is the case, Rockhold's resume holds up pretty well against the champ's. I am partial towards the AKA guys, but I think his rapid destruction of Machida relative to Weidman's relatively close decision vs. the dragon as well as his win over Jacare' are both signs that he is more than qualified to beat Weidman. He is more a JJ guy, winning most of his fights via submission, but he tends to get there by striking the crap out of his opponents, the best examples being what he did to Machida and Bisping. He should have gotten this shot a while ago, since he was the Strikeforce champ, but he got KO'd in his first UFC fight by a juiced up Vitor Belfort (who Weidman crushed) in Brazil back in 2013.
Both Weidman and Rockhold are big guys for 185 (Rockhold is 6'3") so it will be interesting to see how they do in the post IV UFC.
By the way, this is a huge week for the UFC with a bunch of great fights. They have PVZ vs Najamulas on Thursday night, the TFF final with Mendes V. Edgar on Friday and then UFC 194 on Saturday.
