A few things that have captured my interest this week:
Winning this game is probably less important overall than the team health improving.
Injuries at WR and S:
WR- With Amendola having re-aggravated his knee, it'll be interesting to see what happens this week at WR. Edelman has now been practicing for nearly 2 weeks. If Amendola sits (which he probably should), does Edelman get a few snaps? WR depth chart today is LaFell- Martin-Hankerson- Slater. If my memory serves me, when Amendola was out Bolden lined up wide on more than a few snaps. Will they go back to this? My gut is that Martin is going to emerge as more of a go-to guy in this game. If we see primarily deep bombs to Lafell and up the right sideline with Chandler, I might start to feel a little grumpy.
S- Given Chung's hip and DMC's high ankle sprain, it may make sense to sit them this week. That leave us with Harmon-Wilson-Richards-Ebner and King on the depth chart. Perhaps someone with more knowledge than me can give us an idea of how those 5 might get deployed. It would be surprising (to me) if Chung and DMC don't use this week to get healthy and get some snaps for the other guys on the depth chart.
The last time we played the Jets, the secondary had a tough time matching up with the big 2. Decker and Marshall have 4-6" of height advantage over most of the secondary (other than 6'-2" rookie S King). This would be a great game for the front 7 to beast, keeping some of the pressure off of a secondary that may be a bit mismatched and/or inexperienced.
The way things have gone with new players being introduced to game time, it would be a little surprising to see Jackson this week. I'm very curious to see if he'll get snaps and if so, how many and what type? Is he better than the current in-house alternatives?
Overall, I'm viewing this game with more of a sense of curiosity than a sense of urgency.
