The Red Sox are what they are. 159 regular season games done, 3 left to play. They got no power, they got no reliable starting pitching beyond Sale (and even him...), they got no reliable bullpen beyond Kimbrell (and maybe Carson Smith but be honest: you don't trust him yet), the third baseman's throwing arm seems to have circa 1978 Butch Hobson's sense of direction, and don't lets get me started on the manager!
And yet they've been in first place of what we like to think is the toughest division in baseball for all but 4 days since mid June.
