Top 15 pick just 2 years ago and now he's making the FA rounds. Pretty crazy.Patriots had Corey Coleman in for a workout today per Rapaport.

That has been the reporting and certainly could be true. I wonder if the Pats are just seeing how they evaluate him, or whether perhaps they imagine a role that is simple enough for him? I know that's not their general approach but they also are masters of making the system fit what the players can execute.Apparently, Coleman can't grasp enough X's and O's to win a game of Tic-tac-toe.
I think his bigger problem is between his ears. New England’s system is notoriously demanding on receivers mentally. I can’t see this working out, but I’ve been wrong before.Pats are signing Corey Coleman per Rap Sheet. I'll be surprised if he sticks. First round talent but can't seem to shake the injury bug.

Giardi talked to his source again last night and said it was still a no on Dez. Not sure why at this point. Sure, he may not be a perfect fit but he'd most likely help.No Dez
I don't see how this has any chance of working out.
As any player that comes in with no time to learn the system, what you said is true of most players. It absolutely could not work with Bryant. But, given his talent level and the fact he is coming off a 69-838-6 season I think he could contribute moreso than Corey Coleman or Bennie Fowler. Why do you say the bolded? Isn't it as likely that he has trouble learning the system and struggles to mesh with Brady? It's not like we haven't had this happen before (see: Ochocinco, Chad) -- and this is not even consider the potential for a distraction in the locker room. This team does not exactly have a great track record of wringing a last year or two out of old receivers who've lost a step.
Here is a complete list of all of the QBs he has worked with in his two previous years in the league: Cody Kessler, Josh McCown, RG III, DeShone Kizer, Kevin HoganCorey Coleman has not been good. Has a 39% and 44% catch rate respectively the last two years. Don't think he is going to last a few more weeks. Just give us Dez.
Why would we want that to happen?Patterson is the kick returner (1 return for 19 yards vs Texans) but perhaps Coleman can take over some of that work from CP.

Not saying this will work, but he also had some bad injury luck. From wikipedia:Here is a complete list of all of the QBs he has worked with in his two previous years in the league: Cody Kessler, Josh McCown, RG III, DeShone Kizer, Kevin Hogan
Safe to say that some of his "targets" may have been difficult to catch with that motley crew.
In his first regular season game on September 11, 2016, Coleman recorded two receptions for 69 yards. In Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens, Coleman made five receptions for 104 receiving yards and two touchdowns.Coleman broke his hand during practice on September 21, and was ruled out 4–6 weeks.
In Week 1 of the 2017 season, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Coleman caught the first career touchdown pass from quarterback DeShone Kizer. He finished the game with five receptions for 53 yards. In Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens, Coleman suffered another broken hand, the same hand that hindered him in the 2016 season. He had surgery on the hand on September 18, 2017 and was ruled out 6–8 weeks. He was placed on injured reserve the next day. He was activated off injured reserve to the active roster on November 16, 2017. On December 31, 2017, he dropped a pass late in the fourth quarter to seal the Browns' 0-16 season.
Because I'm a silly goose and have this irrational fear of Patterson getting hurt (although he has not missed any games in his pro career). Why would we want that to happen?
On the other hand, bringing in receivers close to/after the start of the season pretty much never works out for them.I am shocked the Patriots are bringing in an elite talent with an attitude problem. It never ever works for them.
Yeah, I made this point in the other thread before it got split out, I'm not sure "can't learn a playbook" means a whole lot with the Cleveland coaching staff. Buffalo, his OC was Daboll, which does give a minute of pause since he's basically the same offense; that being said, it seems it was more of an attitude issue there and, yeah, they suck too.I'd also throw in that his coach was Hue Jackson. And his offensive coordinator ... I have no clue whatsoever.
True but most of the negative sentiment has seemed targeted towards his persona. I agree its a tough sell re the timingOn the other hand, bringing in receivers close to/after the start of the season pretty much never works out for them.
Pretty much this...My understanding is that, separate from the money or throw-me-the-damn-ball demands, Dez looked cooked last year AND doesn't have a very diverse route-tree skill set. Any Cowboy fans want to weigh in?
After these last two signings the bigger issue is practice reps. There are only so many fliers you can evaluate at once.Pretty much this...
Dez [...] I assume the patriots don't want the distraction but at this point, I would think you could sign him for very little risk and just cut him if it isn't working.
