Typical millenial wanting someone else to do the work for you...Love the "3 new teams have jumped in" toss-off. Says who? If true, who are the teams?
I wonder if the "not getting the best value in a trade" is part of BB's long-term strategy. If you constantly "win" trades, eventually people will not want to trade with you. If you are reasonable and almost magnanimous even in these negotiations, teams will be more eager to trade with you. I mean, he can't do this because he's stupid. Maybe it's as you suggest....maybe he just doesn't want the drama and so when he gets a deal he considers good enough, he pulls the trigger. I don't know.I know he gets criticized for not getting the best value when trading away players (Jimmy G., Jamie Collins, etc.), but I am so glad Belichick doesn't play up the drama through the media like this. It's such transparent B.S.
Or maybe we grossly overrate how much trade value veteran players have.I wonder if the "not getting the best value in a trade" is part of BB's long-term strategy. Sorry for not being clear. Based on salary alone, there are only going to be limited number of trade partners available to the Steelers. I don't think the team can drive up Brown's trade value by pretending that there is more interest than there is. Rather, I think they are purposefully playing up the drama of the trade process so as to 'prove' that they got the best value to their fans.Or maybe we grossly overrate how much trade value veteran players have.
Breer reporting it is done:The Browns looks like they are going to be moving on from Jamie Collins.
No.We're 2 1/2 seasons removed from Jamie Collins being in Foxborough. Any interest in seeing if he 1) would return at a good value, and 2) if his time away - where he missed out on 3 Super Bowl appearances and 2 wins, has him more willing to follow the script in his age 30 season?
I'd absolutely take him, but probably not at the price some other team will arrive at.We're 2 1/2 seasons removed from Jamie Collins being in Foxborough. I'd be interested if the level of discipline matches the talent... at the right money obviously. We're 2 1/2 seasons removed from Jamie Collins being in Foxborough. Not really. Even if he buys in completely, I don't think he's going to be better than High or Van Noy and its important that young players like Bentley get some snaps and continue to develop as a longer term solution. So I don't see a need or a fit. We're 2 1/2 seasons removed from Jamie Collins being in Foxborough. It's very interesting when you look around the league right now with the glut of QB's, would we even get close to the return we received last year for Jimmy G if we'd held onto him for another year and were trading him this year?I know he gets criticized for not getting the best value when trading away players (Jimmy G., Jamie Collins, etc.), but I am so glad Belichick doesn't play up the drama through the media like this. Not sure if I'm remembering correctly, but I thought there were rumors the Pats were sniffing around trading for Collins last year. (I know, rumors...)I want no part of a 30 year-old "I got my money" Jamie Collins.
Very unfortunate name for someone who often appears on the field when the game is on the line. At least he’s not a relief pitcher.Bears held kicker tryouts.
Today they signed Chris Blewitt

Made my day. I laughed out loud. Thanks for sharing this important news.Bears held kicker tryouts.

I am sitting next to my wife as I read this and asked her to guess the name of the new Bears kicker. She suggested "Doinky." But Blewitt is actually worse.Bears held kicker tryouts.

IdiotKicker and I were discussing him a few years ago, tried out for the Steelers to no avail. We both agreed, as unfortunate as his name is, it had to be as a personal favor to someone at Pitt. Neither of us seemed to think he had any kind of future in this league, and nothing has dissuaded me from such a stance. Baffling signing when a guy like Novak is available and looking really clean mechanically in the AAF.Bears held kicker tryouts.

Unfortunate his ACC team of choice wasn't the Seminoles, no?So you’ve seen recent tape of Blewitt?
I've seen you bring this up in other threads where you kind of couple the Patriots and Ravens together as model franchises, but I am not sure why. From 2013 through 2018, Baltimore has a record of 50-46. They have made the playoffs in just two of those six seasons, playing on Wild Card weekend both times. They have exactly one playoff win in six years. They had a great run from 2008 through 2012, but for more than a half decade since that time, they've been a mediocre franchise, hovering around the .500 mark, with no success to speak of, and a long list of excuses for why none of it is their fault. We’re getting enough years behind us to conclude that some of the better run teams are out of the hardass tag business. It’s just not worth the trouble save exceptional cases.
Agreed. They've won 1 playoff game since Edelman became a started. Think about that. They royally fucked up the Flacco contract, which is the single biggest thing that has held them back for the last 6 years.I've seen you bring this up in other threads where you kind of couple the Patriots and Ravens together as model franchises, but I am not sure why. They did a good job locking up Nick Boyle this week though. Great blocker, and underrated Tight End.
Story is that he's cleaned up his mechanics since college and there was at least 1 former NFL kicker also at this tryout with Blewitt so it wasn't just him against no name guys.IdiotKicker and I were discussing him a few years ago, tried out for the Steelers to no avail. He never equated the two or said they were both model franchises. He grouped them both under the rubric of "better run teams" which seems pretty unobjectionable. If you want to make an argument that the Ravens have not been one of the better run teams in the league - which is obviously not something that only reduces to win-loss record - then go for it. But don't jump on him for something he didn't say.I've seen you bring this up in other threads where you kind of couple the Patriots and Ravens together as model franchises, but I am not sure why. Did I say “model”? I said better run, I believe. You can do certain things well, other things less well, and I was focused on the use of the tag.I've seen you bring this up in other threads where you kind of couple the Patriots and Ravens together as model franchises, but I am not sure why. I don't think I was jumping on anyone, and that seems like an overly sensitive way of interpreting my post.He never equated the two or said they were both model franchises. Just to get it clear up front, I did not intend to jump on you or anything, so I'm glad you didn't receive it that way. I also agree with the larger point. The franchise tag seems like a good way to ruin whatever relationship existed between player and organization.Did I say “model”? I said better run, I believe. You can do certain things well, other things less well, and I was focused on the use of the tag.
Ravens have used the franchise tag twice in the last 6 years. On Ray Rice after he went for 2000 yards in total offense, and they quickly reached a deal. On Justin Tucker in 2016, who is easily the best kicker in the League, and they quickly reached a deal as well.
I think the Patriots have similarly been restrained this decade. And it’s smart because you don’t need the headache that comes with an unhappy player. So they are smart to let Moseley explore FA. If he leaves, he leaves.
Agree on Boyle. They kicked around Dwayne Allen before committing to Boyle, who is more versatile.
May be that the sources would not go on record to admit their teams were in the running.Love the "3 new teams have jumped in" toss-off. Says who? If true, who are the teams?
It’s going to be great when the Pats land him for a 3rd round pick and conditional 2020.Word is teams are now bailing on the Brown trade talk and his value is dropping.
Seems like a win-winBroncos are close to trading Case Keenum to the Redskins.
Big win for Keenum. Probably the only team he’d start for.Seems like a win-win
Or the “trades by the end of the week” was just hot air by PIT trying to create an artificial deadline in an attempt to get other teams to get into a bidding war.Word is teams are now bailing on the Brown trade talk and his value is dropping.
Oh, he could start for the Memphis ExpressBig win for Keenum. Probably the only team he’d start for.
Yeah, and their org priorities are pretty unique. They want juice heading into LV in 2020, that’s a big reason Gruden got tabbed.Raiders #35 for Brown I’m guessing. They still keep their 3 first rounders, but decent value for PIT.
And knocks out an obvious landing spot for ...Seems like a win-win
