You’ve got to be kidding me. It’s only a matter of time before it runs through the whole team.

Yeah, maybe Ed Hillel shouldn’t have been told to be quiet about this...

He was 100% right.

I expect they will be shut down for a while like the Titans are.

No surprise that there would be some this week. Even without the travel there was a good possibility. Travel and playing certainly increased it. NFL was more worried about postponing two games in a row. All their "protocols" are for PR and maximizing games not for players safety.

And another Titans player tested positive so they still can’t get into their facility, putting this weekend’s game against the Bills in doubt.

We’re going to quickly get into competitive imbalance land if another team gets massively infected.

One thing to stupidly put the players at risk with the travel, but they also just exposed the entire Chiefs roster to a dude that was almost certainly contagious.

Game shouldn’t have happened. Hope Gilmore recovers fully and they contain this thing.

So with two positive tests (and not to be missed...their best player on both offense and defense, which probably for the NFL is part of the calculus here) plus others being held back...you gotta believe that this week's game against Denver is in jeopardy, right?

The league needs to immediately postpone Sunday’s game, and the Pats need to shut down indefinitely. A complete fucking joke they were forced to travel and play Monday night. And as sodenj5 points out, the Chiefs are now definitely on the clock. Starting to believe the idea of 32 home bubbles is the only possible way the season doesn’t go off the rails. This isn’t baseball.

PFT: “Per source, Stephon Gilmore was one of the players in close contact with Cam Newton, and Gilmore was on the second plane with roughly 20 people.”

Great. Just great.

When Ben Volin is the voice of sanity in a situation, you know you are screwed. What a horrible job by the NFL, as usual.

So only the coaching staff mainly so great, but unless the entire secondary was on there doesn't matter...not like they are in close contact throughout the game or anything.

And now the Raiders have a positive case as well. This seems....bad.

The league needs to delay the playoffs three weeks now. TODAY. Add in 2 blank weeks in week 10 and week 16. Let teams make up games those weeks.

I dont understand what the NFL is doing. Considering all the circumstances, the players overall have done really well. The NFL needs to fucking step up. They wont lose money, they wont lose eyeballs...a few added bumper weeks benefits literally everyone.

What the FUCK is wrong with this league?

So per the NFL it was OK for the Patriots to fly to KC day of game and play despite Cam's positive test. And now Gilmore's got it.

If Mahomes gets it there's no chance they make KC play. This league had no business having them play on Monday night. They could fuck up a two car parade.

They could play the super bowl on St.Patricks day if they wanted to. Maybe time for a league wide pause, quarantine anybody positive/high risk, re-think all the protocols, then resume in a couple weeks............. which of course their arrogant , piggish greed will never allow.

And 2 more Titans have tested positive. This is going to continue to snowball. Unbelievable that the NFL made the Patriots travel and play.

The date of the Super Bowl is one of the least important things for the league to be worrying about right now. Schedule every team to play every other week and let the season finish in April.

But...what greed? How much is it costing the league to shut it down for 2 weeks? Let the infected players get healthy, make sure the league is healthy, add in a bumper week or two going forward and...that's it.

An additional 4 weeks of season time. So what? Wheres the crazy financial losses coming from if they do this?

Fair enough. Maybe it’s just arrogance. But something is driving them to continue to ignore the obvious growing crises they have. Do they run into any issues with their broadcast partners by having wide scale postponements and rescheduling?

Yes, a guy on the field would have close contact with other players.

I wonder how much, if they did at all, the Patriots/Kraft pushed the league on a full postponement of Monday's game until later in the year.

I wouldn't put much stock in that game still being on tweet. Once more positives come in they'll have to shut it down.

Players need to walk out. It has come to that.
The NFLPA will be stepping up soon. Regardless how much they actually care for player safety (and i believe they do care), this is a great leverage point for them over the league.

I agree but the initial response is precisely the issue. They want to plow ahead rather than taking a wait and see approach. When would it even be safe for the Pats to open their facility and practice?

Again, guys, the league is extremely sensitive to pressure from other owners to the mere appearance of cutting the Patriots any sort of break. So what if the entire team gets infected? Goodell will always stick it to the Pats because that's what his corporate masters want.

They'll push hard to play the Denver game. You'll see. They'd be happy to see a Pats player get hospitalized or worse. Gilmore is the DPOY and yet they don't care that he's sick. But if Mahomes gets sick they'll cancel everything.

If Mahomes actually gets sick, sure, the season is over. But if he just tests positive and is asymptomatic (like just about every other NFL case), it will be interesting to see how that gets handled.

Why do we think the NFLPA will step out of these positive tests when the MLB players didn't?

They can claim it was one team that may have been violating protocols (Titans) and then with NE they knew teams would have cases and the league and players have protocols in place, agreed to by both sides.

If anything I think this adds money to the NFL's pockets. Shut down individual teams for positives not the league, you end up with 20-21 weeks of NFL football before the playoffs.
