Alright. The thing is, Mahomes is great. He's been great since he took over as the starter. It would be stupid if he didn't get a ton of attention. It's not like Brady hasn't gotten a ton of attention for 20 years. It just seems like he's a weird target. But ok, I don't want to turn this into a Mahomes debate. I thought I was missing something about him but apparently I was over-thinking it.
I think a lot of it disliking the KC franchise for whom they employ
Then you add on the announcers salivating if he throws a side arm pass. Like wow, Rivers did that almost all the time and was never touted as the greatest QB
And then Brady vs Peyton was some real convo in the early 00s when Brady had 3 rings and Peyton had 0. So when you hear Mahomes, all of 1 SB win and 3 CG / SB losses, being the best thing since sliced bread it just rings hollow.
Like Ben never get this much salivating on his scrambles and he has won more than Mahomes ever has (yes I realize there are some issues). Insert Eli, he never got the praise.

I mean, look who’s number 1 ;)

But yea, Jeter is an amazing athlete and baseball player, and if he played for the Royals in relative anonymity everyone would feel very different about him.
Yes. People aren't rational about Jeter. But he was supremely talented. You don't have the 6th most hits in MLB history because you were lucky.

I hear ya. As I've mentioned in other places, I have a yuge issue judging players based on rings but I know it's a thing. All I know is, if I could pick any player in the league right now I think it would be between Mahomes and Herbert. And if you're in that conversation you deserve the hype unless you're a dick.

He was very gifted and had a lotta tangibles. Hell, you might even say he had a basket full of tangible gifts.

I f-ing despise him, but c'mon. You want to say his defense was overrated, fine. But otherwise, his greatness as a player is not subject to debate. And again, I DESPISED the guy.

For fuck’s sake. After a glorious football game we gotta have reasons for hating Patrick Fucking Mahomes and Derek Fucking Jeter?

I hate them both with the intensity of a million zillion blazing hot suns. Unreservedly.

I mean. Derek Jeter is 6th all time for hits.

How can a guy with the 6th most hits in the history of baseball not be talented?
Not "not talented." Over-hyped.
Great hitter. Highly overrated fielder who received constant over-the-top praise for his play..

Worst kick in the playoffs this year. Wow.

Except for maybe when that guy came up short from 47. Was that the same guy? Just kidding, i know it was.

Mahomes isn’t overhyped or overrated. He is THAT GOOD.

But being THAT GOOD doesn’t automatically translate into titles. It didn’t for Marino, Rodgers, Wilson, and others. And THAT is the problem I have with Mahomes, and probably many others do too. The media says he is guaranteed to win multiple titles, or more.

No, he isn’t.

I thought they should have drafted Sewell as I’ll usually lean in favor of a potential generational OT but Chase is amazing and IIRC Sewell was not as great off the bat as expected.

Higgins would be a worthy #1 in his own right. Great pairing.
I also thought the Bengals should’ve drafted Sewell, who is a helluva lot better than Isaiah Prince right now. But the Bengals were obviously right about Chase.

Yeah you get it, Tim. This is the basis for my issue with rings. The media talking about Mahomes and rings is dumb. I'm with you.

Exactly. He’s absolutely unreal. But in the ultimate team sport, in a single elimination environment, with a salary cap, it’s REALLY hard to win a championship.

Yup. Brady just broke everyone's brain in this regard, it's really fucking hard to win multiple titles. Let alone make it to literally 50% of super bowls in your active years as a starter, and winning more than a third of them.
