We've been seeing more of Wong than I expected so far, wonder if McGuire's playing through something?

Everybody have fun tonight (today?)

They should have switched Wong and Chang in the order though

Game 6
A mid-day mid-week baseball game
is hard to watch, but just the same,
when things are not quite going right,
it’s just as hard to watch at night.
The Sox have dropped to 2 and 3.
Are we what doubters said we’d be?
A mediocre middling squad
who’ll fall short of a playoff nod?
It’s far too early to lose heart
as Kluber gets his second start.
There’s optimism to be found.
(He can’t be worse this time around.)
Let’s start a streak this afternoon
and make the critics change their tune.

Day game after night game too... I also think they're just trying to get Wong's bat going.

McGuire has been a bad-to-awful hitter over the vast majority of his career, despite a nice sample at the end of last year, whereas Wong has shown plenty of pop at every level in the minors. With Tapia and Chang both in there it may be a nice adjustment to prop up the bottom of the lineup.

Nicely done!

I'm a little surprised there hasn't been much agita over on the main board about the pitching, given how this first run through the rotation has gone. I guess, in the end, it is just one run through though. Let's hope for better results this time.

I need the Sox to entertain me (i.e., win the game) today, b/c during the 7th or 8th inning last night, I discovered a deer tick embedded in my arm and chaos ensued in the ITP home until my husband removed it, and I didn't even see the Sox' ignominious loss. Now I have to spend the next month looking for the bulls-eye rash. So they really need to distract me until June 5. Okay guys?
GEAUX, SOX!

It's the first week of the season. They're giving Tapia and Chang a start to give them some at-bats.
Understood, but he's been tearing the cover off the ball (last night notwithstanding, but no one except for McGuire hit last night). I understand not pulling one of the lefties from the lineup, but I'm wondering why they wouldn't just sit Turner and let Duvall DH.

Because Turner is hitting well too? Sometimes a day off is just a day off. Wasn't there a concern this winter about Duvall's durability if he's playing CF every day? Giving him a day off his feet seems like prudent routine maintenance.

I see I'm going to have to admonish you for posting logic in a game thread again.

Nice to see we are continuing to employ the "Groove it right down the middle" strategy that has been working so well in this series.

Love it when the game thread panic sets in before a run has even been scored

Would guess never for Walter. He’s already 26 and got shelled in his first three AAA starts.

Soon on the other guys. Believe Whitlock could be back next week, right?
Naw, Pete Gammons guaranteed us last year Walter is the best prospect you never heard of!!! (I think)
