Phl played their minds out, shot like crazy. Bos D was well, I dunnno on vacation with the Bruins?

But let's not pretend the missed flagrant ball slap, the Tatum missed hack followed immediately by the missed charge, and the missed hack on Smart at the end (dumb play, fucking lob to TL) didn't influence this. (amongst other head scratchers).

Miller clearly hates Boston. WTF does the Bruins reference have to do with anything?

Up 4 with the ball and potential fast break and they said “no we would rather lose.”
That no call on Tatum getting destroyed there looms large…..

We have a coach learning on the job and, let’s all be honest here, he’s not very good.

I remember the Finals. And the many ECFs. They often lose in key spots. I said they could still win this series. But they are who they are.
Every team in sports often loses in key spots. Kind of what happens when every team but one loses.

This team’s attitude toward the postseason right now is like Damone’s reaction to Rat when he called from the restaurant.

I think the refs did a shit job late but Celtics had a four point lead nobody forced them to run a fucking nothing possession or Brogdon throw the ball away or aggressively switch Al onto Harden for reasons.

Yeah I didn’t want to believe it during their regular season struggles but they’re soft and CJM isn’t quite ready. Doesn’t mean they won’t win but it’s not going to be a cakewalk.

Watching the endless Harden pick and role switch onto Horford was excruciating. You have to go smaller and stay in front of him. Joe Mazzula is not a good coach.

The only way to keep Smart from trying to be the hero at the end of the game is to bench him. It's been that way for years. Different coaches. They all seem afraid of him. Just can't figure it out.

Good - it's the truth.

Go watch the last few minutes of this one.

You show me this is the guy that's carrying his team to victory.

If you do that - and still say yes - you know nothing about NBA playoff basketball.
If you replace Tatum with any other wing in the entire NBA, they lose this game by 20.

He's not turning the ball over or being lazy on defense
Nope, but what did you think of him having Al Horford play the last 8:37 of game time, while TL sat on the bench.

To give an idea of how much Philly hunted Al, he finished with a game worst -17. TL was +8 in 20 minutes.

Gotta go with what's working, I guess.

They win this series, I think. But I am concerned after that.
I completely agree. I think they win this series and probably make the finals still. I don’t think they win it all anymore. There’s something still missing

Here
Marcus carried the C's for much of the fourth.
At some point we need to recognize that Smart and Jaylen scoring big points in given games is often offset by horrible turnovers. Losing a possession and giving an extra one to a team can lead to 4-6 point swings on their own. The turnovers fucking kill this team repeatedly.

Okay, but Harden hit a step back 3 with Al's hand in his face. Can't do anything about that unless you think another player would have blocked it.
And it's impossible to defend three pointers now because you can't get into the offensive players landing space or it's a tech.. so defenders have to jump to the side.. if you can hit step back threes there's no way to defend it.

Smart six turnovers. JB had four.

Philly took 89 shots, Boston 75. Philly with 17 made threes, Boston only 10. Tough to win when you get out scored by 21 from three and turn the ball over so much

Come on. This team has been lackadaisical in so many spots over recent years. They just are. They think their talent makes up for drive. And lots of times it does.

I said earlier they could still win the Finals. I don’t know that their flaw is fatal. But let’s not be silly and deny the flaw.

Can they be less lazy on D? I keep hoping, but this looks like what they are on D.
With TL obviously not at full strength the scheme calls for them to allow open three point shots and hope they miss. All fucking night. That’s the D.

I really think this team needs an ass kicker as coach. Whatever Mazzulla is, he sure as shit isn’t that

Another player might have been all up in Hardens shit, ensuring he maybe had to pass it instead of trying to shoot. Al has to give him room, because if he doesn't, Harden will blow right by him.

Sure but he's just not an efficient offensive player and makes a lot of mistakes in crunch time. I'd rather lose with White and Brogdon closing
White was horrible tonite. And Brogdon threw the ball to Maxey for a pick-6. Lots of bad guard play.

At least last season they had the defense while they were busy throwing up 15-20 turnover games. They are now lazy as fuck on D and still don’t take care of the ball, while hoping better offense (except when it really counts!) makes up the difference. It won’t.

Celtics shoot 58.7%, go 17-18 from the line, get 39 from Tatum (and 11 boards), only commit 10 fouls, have 26 assists, 23 from Brown on 8-10 shooting, and even get 20 from Brogdon off the bench....and lose to a 76er team without Embiid.
Meaning that the C’s defense was atrocious

He had 30 14 and 7 in a closeout series win on the road like yesterday. Guess that victory didn't count.
