Wow. That is incredibly damning….
As much as I’m harping on Tatum this is true and really their shit defense is reason 1-10 why they lost todayWhy are we fighting to assign blame they all sucked in different ways at different times. Tatum sucked the least, but they all own this shit sandwich.
....where he went to the hoop and got the foul, putting the Celtics up by 1 with 26 seconds left.So now your argument is that we should ignore his entire career and focus on a single quarter of a single game?
In the last two seasons (reg/post) with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter or in overtime and trailing by 1-5 points, Jayson Tatum has made just 1 of 24 3PT shots. This is a dumb take. According to NBA.com, he is the only player in NBA history to shoot at least 50 percent on game-tying or go-ahead shots with less than 24 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter among players with at least 25 such attempts. He is 13-of-26 on such shots — 15-of-29 including the playoffs. He‘a not just clutch, he’s the the most clutch player of all time statistically.
That’s being pretty charitable to Tatum. I think Tatum was just looking for an outlet, any outlet. He didn’t want the shot. Didn’t want the pressure. Brogdon was in his line of sight. Think it was as simple as that.I think Tatum thought Brogdon had more space than he did, and would go right up with the 3.
in my opinton yes i did not watch the game but useing 2k i have played philly very well and shut them down the only teams that scare me is u and GSSo besides the MVP and an all time great he doesn’t have much to work with?
I'll put it this way:Your point, as I read it, was that the Jays (specifically Brown) fucked over Brogdon because they gave him a grenade. To me, that means they passed him the ball with literally no time left and, to me, that’s absolving Brogdon and blaming others for his fucking moronic play.
Yes, that take is obviously the even-keeled one. So...you're explanation for the very next possession is...?That’s being pretty charitable to Tatum. I think Tatum was just looking for an outlet, any outlet. He didn’t want the shot. Didn’t want the pressure. Brogdon was in his line of sight. Think it was as simple as that.
https://www.nba.com/celtics/news/sidebar-post-20230225-tatum-adds-to-historic-clutch-resume-with-game-winner-in-phillyExactly...
It was Tatum's shot to take - he didn't want it. He threw it to Brogdan with time expiring.
Whatever - I'm done here.
Jason has his defenders, and no matter what you see in the second half and final minutes of these games (over and over by the way)...you're wrong.
It’s not even just with Tatum…the team consistently fails to get the other teams weak link into the action. That they still don’t have any way to consistently get Tatum isolated down low on a subpar defender without him driving in from the perimeter is a massive indictment on the coaching staff.
Some folks had a hard time understanding how badly this team has underperformed their massive talent all year. I was told there was nothing to worry about.
You don't think a guy like Smart or Tatum or Brown can get up on Harden without fouling him and force a much more contested shot, or force him to pass?It was a mega-isolation Harden had there. Who 1 on 1 would make Harden pass the ball without fouling? That's what I'm struggling with. The only thing making Harden pass the ball with that much real estate around him was if a double was sent after him.

What are the odds? Truly weird.I just can’t believe that we let historic choker James Harden turn back the clock and beat us
They can’t. They decided a long time ago. I don’t know why. It is very different from how other young stars are treated on the board. I don’t even read most game threads because I want to enjoy watching the kid play and not read the silly criticisms ad nauseam.Meanwhile, people are shitting on a rising superstar who is still only 25 years old and has already been to an NBA Finals and is still improving as a player. Sure, there are bumps along the way but he’s going to be a great player for a long time in this league. I just hope some of you can enjoy the ride.
Give me a break. Tatum shied away from that particular moment. We all saw it. It’s ok to call a spade a spade sometimes. Doesn’t make him a coward or choked or whatever. But on that specific play, he wanted nothing to do with the responsibility of shooting that ball. It was clear as day.Yes, that take is obviously the even-keeled one. So...you're explanation for the very next possession is...?
i been growing out my beard and i dont know how he does it it itchs all the time makes u look olderI just can’t believe that we let historic choker James Harden turn back the clock and beat us
JB was untouchable here until he dabbled in antisemitism and now it’s open season when he has a bad gameIf you guys think Tatum gets treated unfairly on here, boy are you in for something when you find out about Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart
I guess, but everyone shot well tonight. I’m baffled about the back and forth about various offensive possessions. This game was clearly lost on the defensive end. And turnovers. That’s where JB shines.Jaylen 10 shots in 42 mins seems bad.
Posters here are pretty equal opportunity..If you guys think Tatum gets treated unfairly on here, boy are you in for something when you find out about Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart
JB has never, ever been untouchable here. Dude could score 30 in the first 3 quarters, make 1 turnover early in the 4th, and it'll become the story for the next 5 minutes in a game thread.JB was untouchable here until he dabbled in antisemitism and now it’s open season when he has a bad game
Let’s not get into itIme really fucked the team over (among other people)
He used to be my favorite Celtic and now I can’t stand him. His “dabbling” ruined the season for me, to be honest.JB was untouchable here until he dabbled in antisemitism and now it’s open season when he has a bad game
Bingo...This is the moment Tatum passed to Brogdon. 2.0 seconds left on the shot clock.

Yes there are three guys around Tatum but he needed to absolutely pull up for a jumper there. He had plenty of space to shoot over Tucker. Harden wasn't getting there. And he had Maxey behind him. That's as good a look as you're gonna get in that spot and he passed it up. This was a rise and fire kind of situation. Instead he threw a grenade to Brogdon. Yes Brogdon made a terrible turnover, but Tatum put him in a bad spot. Now if Brogdon was Tobias Harris, he'd have just taken the jumper right there.
Tatum had the shot available. 100% he did. Durant would have shot that. Curry would have shot that. LeBron would have shot that. Pierce would have shot that. Jordan would have shot that. Ja would have shot that. Kawhi would have shot that. Harden would have shot that. Mitchell would have shot that. Heck, Jordan Hawkins of UConn would have shot that. Tatum didn't.
Doesn't mean he's not a superstar. Dude had 39 points and 11 rebounds. But he turned down the shot in the biggest spot in the game and he shouldn't have.
I’ve been here a while and this is not true. At all. Last year, well before the antisemitism, he was the boards favorite target. Him and Smart. The same way it is now.JB was untouchable here until he dabbled in antisemitism and now it’s open season when he has a bad game
100% and that’s all I’m saying. He shied away in that moment, for whatever reason. And we can’t have that. I’m still stunned he didn’t shoot that ball. This is the moment Tatum passed to Brogdon. 2.0 seconds left on the shot clock.

And Giannis dribbles through all 3 of them somehow and tries a layupThis is the moment Tatum passed to Brogdon. 2.0 seconds left on the shot clock.

Clearly he was afraid
Very different situation. Chicago was up 3 games to 2. Score was tied (Chi wasn't behind). Kerr was a great shooter and was wide open. And Jordan was double teamed and swarmed by Stockton and Malone. And there was still five seconds on the clock so Kerr didn't have to make a panic play.
They missed the call. It was a tenth of a second, but they got it wrong. Let's see if the NBA bothers to show this on the 2 minute report.I'm actually not sure how it wasn't a shot clock violation: at 0.0 Maxey still hasn't caught the ball.
Looking at that screenshot my guess is that je anticipated Harden taking a harder close towards him and that would have left Brogdon a wide open 3. I think he underestimated how lazy Harden is and how much he plays passing lanesThis is the moment Tatum passed to Brogdon. 2.0 seconds left on the shot clock.

Well maybe. I don't know what he was thinking. But Harden certainly could have done nothing to disrupt Tatum's jumper in that spot.Looking at that screenshot my guess is that je anticipated Harden taking a harder close towards him and that would have left Brogdon a wide open 3. you're climbing uphill to defend Tatum dude...Clearly he was afraid
