I don't think so, but they didn't really want to sign anyone in Free Agency this summer. Will be interesting to see how they create the roster spot for him.

Vecenie explained it well. He said that this sets Oklahoma city up well for a Big move next season. They will have Dort at 17 million, and then Bertans expiring deal, which will give them the opportunity to make a big move next offseason, especially given all their picks. And while they are likely a playoff team, they are likely a year away from going for it.
might see if he'll take an immediate buyout. He surrenders the $5M ETO for next year and in return they let him go into FA at age 30 where he can maybe get a 2 or 3 year deal

Should I start to do last minute research into the 25 range or is this pick getting moved?

So, Dallas peaced out on the playoffs to save $22 million and draft a bench player?
I think they'd say they also had a...whatever, 8% chance of getting a top-3 pick, and also enables them to get Lively/full midlevel guy (Bruce Brown?) and a $17 mil trade exception. So for a thin team adding three legit players is pretty big get.

As intolerable as the NFL Draft can be at some points, it's far far far better than this shitshow

As someone who was today years old when he saw the name, Gradey Dick has to be the best porn name in the draft, right?

I get hoarding assets, but same as the Wiz trading 2 2nd rounders for no particular reason, this is taking up space to get a guy they would have got anyway. No big deal in either case, just seems silly.

Jett is the first pick I really hate, but what do I know?
CBS Sportsline agrees with you…

This pick is one of the first real head-scratchers of the night. The son of Michigan coach Juwan Howard is one of the best tough shot-makers in the draft and has solid positional size. But he is a defensive liability, and though he can shoot, there are better shooters on the board to help Orlando with that issue (Jordan Hawkins and Gradey Dick). Many expected him to be drafted toward the end of Round 1, not in the lottery. (Adam Finkelstein)

Man feels kinda weird waiting for the Celtics pick. Haven't had this joy the last two years.

Dressed like one as well.

Woj says he hasn't heard that Zion has been involved in any trade talks, so cue the Shams tweet saying something like "Hearing the Pelicans are actively shopping Zion"

Wonder where Grant is on the wish list for Dallas with that trade exception---they could use Grant and Celtics could use a 2026 or so draft pick rather than a player back. Don't believe there's a no-trade period for extending your own guy

I'd spin it into a 3 way deal and get a player on a cheaper deal (Grant counts as 50% of his first year salary in outgoing, so you'd be in the 8-9M range, up to 10+ with Champagnie), can't happen until July though, Grant's contract is done

FYI: for those wanting an alternative to ESPN coverage, Shams has a great live Stadium feed going off his Twitter site. Actual in depth analysis with multiple people.

I'm a big fan of Jarace Walker. I've got a little question about his shot and offensive game, but he's great a great body and is a dog on defense. Will be interesting to see him get a lot of run in Washington.

So this has been a VERY chalk top 15. 14 of the 15 on the consensus bigboard went, only guy falling out was Whitmore on medicals, and the guy going in was Howard who was 20th.
