Imagine you realize your dream of being drafted and your mother makes it all about herself like that. Poor kid.

So is Dallas trying to clear cap space to sign someone prior to re-signing Kyrie? Seems like all they get there is off of Bertans' money. But I don't think they can do so without renouncing Kyrie.

I guess if they get a $17 mil TPE that is of use to them as well, going foward

I agree you'd expect OKC to get more; they do hvae to be sure they hit the salary floor, but you'd think they could get paid more to take on bad money. They must have really wanted Wallace

Thank God for this thread. The ESPN live draft coverage is absolutely awful this year.
Somehow the radio was worse. They are 3 picks behind and still insisting on doing player interviews. I listened for all of 5 minutes going to and from the store and was flabbergasted at how bad it was.

6 miles from Angel Stadium
I like to handicap the NFL and have been doing it for about 60 years. Prop bets aren't my thing. My comment was more aimed at the conflict of interest and perhaps illegal consumer fraud Shams seems to be involved in.
Sorry, wasn't directed at you, just gambling in general. Gambling on draft picks seems very, very weird to me and I agree, there could easily be shenanigans with the odds.

12 to 10 is a big moveup on a lot of boards, plus it's not a bad deal, 17M this year 5M next, they might even be able to buy him out of it and save the 5M next year, they aren't looking to go FA shopping this season

So insanely stupid that the NBA cant do what the NFL does and find a way to make the trades in realtime and let the correct teams make the picks.
And then they let the player knowingly wear the wrong hat.
It's so ridiculously dumb
This

Orlando select Jett Howard (juwan’s kid) with 11

looks A lot like Cole Anthony (face + hair, not game)

I think the compromise is 5 mins between picks. When it's moving that fast, there really isn't time to get the trades sorted in time.

These interviews are killing me.

So with Orlando likely trading a guard, that 17M trade exception DAL just created perfectly fits Fultz, might be something to keep an eye on

So, Dallas peaced out on the playoffs to save $22 million and draft a bench player?

Are they so far under the cap that they have to use it on something? Not super up on their situation
I don't think so, but they didn't really want to sign anyone in Free Agency this summer. Will be interesting to see how they create the roster spot for him.

Vecenie explained it well. He said that this sets Oklahoma city up well for a Big move next season. They will have Dort at 17 million, and then Bertans expiring deal, which will give them the opportunity to make a big move next offseason, especially given all their picks. And while they are likely a playoff team, they are likely a year away from going for it.

I get hoarding assets, but same as the Wiz trading 2 2nd rounders for no particular reason, this is taking up space to get a guy they would have got anyway. No big deal in either case, just seems silly.

Jett is the first pick I really hate, but what do I know?
