That's a question for Chaim, not me.Where is that deal?

Because the Mets are toast and the Sox aren't willing to punt when they are 2 games out of a playoff spot? Why is it the Mets can get value for Verlander but the Sox can't for Paxton?
I’d offer to keep you posted but if you’re out, you’re out.I’m just waiting for the annual tweet and then I’m out on this team. Officially
But by all reports the Sox were listening on Paxton.Because the Mets are toast and the Sox aren't willing to punt when they are 2 games out of a playoff spot?
yes, but the sox would not trade him just because, Paxton has value to a team that is not in the seller like the mets.... if someone was to offer some stupid package for him then fine... but no need to trade him just because fans want the sox to DO SOMETHINGBut by all reports the Sox were listening on Paxton.
Sure, and they have leverage. If they don't move him they can QO him and get draft pick compensation. They aren't getting "nothing" by hanging on to him, and if they can't get the value they want it makes sense to say no.But by all reports the Sox were listening on Paxton.
It's not DO SOMETHING from my perspective, it is cash in on value if it is a seller's market. If they don't extend Paxton and let him walk then this is a total fail.yes, but the sox would not trade him just because, Paxton has value to a team that is not in the seller like the mets.... if someone was to offer some stupid package for him then fine... but no need to trade him just because fans want the sox to DO SOMETHING
Prom Night? This is almost worse than the night I stayed up listening to the car radio until midnight, only to find out all the Red Sox did was get Greg Swindell
What if Paxton contributes to a deep postseason run? It's not DO SOMETHING from my perspective, it is cash in on value if it is a seller's market. If they don't extend Paxton and let him walk then this is a total fail.
What if Paxton helps us make the playoffs? It's not DO SOMETHING from my perspective, it is cash in on value if it is a seller's market. If they don't extend Paxton and let him walk then this is a total fail.
Cause when you have an opportunity to trade for a .165 hitter you gotta pull that trigger. I’m out, enjoy your last place team.
No please, don't goCause when you have an opportunity to trade for a .165 hitter you gotta pull that trigger. I’m out, enjoy your last place team.
Bye, Felicia.Cause when you have an opportunity to trade for a .165 hitter you gotta pull that trigger. I’m out, enjoy your last place team.
Joe Morgan called via seance. He wants his shtick back.Cause when you have an opportunity to trade for a .165 hitter you gotta pull that trigger. I’m out, enjoy your last place team.
They can offer him the QO, that's worth something. As is his value to a team that is 2.5 games out of the playoffs. It's not DO SOMETHING from my perspective, it is cash in on value if it is a seller's market. If they don't extend Paxton and let him walk then this is a total fail.
What if Paxton contributes to a deep postseason run?
Like Schwarber did in 2021? Good, I guess? Paxton is 6 years younger than Verlander. Did he not have similar value? Would you not have driven him to the airport for the same package? What if Paxton helps us make the playoffs?
Yeah but this would be Bloom’s MO… he likes taking chances on guys that cost nothing and hope they can fix the guy. Then it isn't value.
This is bizarre to me. The team is so clearly entering a period of being very good and you're talking about abandoning ship.I’m just waiting for the annual tweet and then I’m out on this team. Officially
Yeah, a repeat of 2021 would be awesome. The Sox were two wins away from the World Series and the playoffs are a roll of the dice. And do we know that someone offered that package for Paxton?Like Schwarber did in 2021? Good, I guess? Paxton is 6 years younger than Verlander. Did he not have similar value? Would you not have driven him to the airport for the same package?
Making the ALCS is just "Good, I guess" now? If you can only enjoy sports if your team wins a championship, you're going to be pretty sad 29/30 of the time.Like Schwarber did in 2021? Good, I guess? Paxton is 6 years younger than Verlander. Did he not have similar value? Would you not have driven him to the airport for the same package?
We don't. I'm asking who had more value, Paxton or Verlander, and whether we'd have been good with a similar package.Yeah, a repeat of 2021 would be awesome. The Sox were two wins away from the World Series and the playoffs are a roll of the dice. And do we know that someone offered that package for Paxton?
Verlander is also under contract & heavily financially subsidized for the next year or two.Like Schwarber did in 2021? Good, I guess? Paxton is 6 years younger than Verlander. Did he not have similar value? Would you not have driven him to the airport for the same package?
Verlander has 1.5 years (2.5 if he is good) of team control. They aren't the same thing.Like Schwarber did in 2021? Good, I guess? Paxton is 6 years younger than Verlander. Did he not have similar value? Would you not have driven him to the airport for the same package?
View: https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1686498439519928320?s=20I'm actually not too sad about missing out on Flaherty, too many walks. I would've been good with E-Rod, though (maybe it still happens!)
I'd be happier if they traded Paxton for the Verlander package, so by definition, I'm ok with them not winning a title.Making the ALCS is just "Good, I guess" now? If you can only enjoy sports if your team wins a championship, you're going to be pretty sad 29/30 of the time.
2021 was very fun and successful season, so yes, if keeping Paxton can help us replicate that I'd much rather do that.Like Schwarber did in 2021? Good, I guess? Paxton is 6 years younger than Verlander. Did he not have similar value? Would you not have driven him to the airport for the same package?
At a bazillion $$Verlander has 1.5 years (2.5 if he is good) of team control. They aren't the same thing.
They're also part of the roster, it's not like you just pretend They're not there.Sale, Whitlock, and Story. Poster boys for staying healthy. Yup, great if they can make it through the season. I wouldn't bet a lot of money on it.
So you want them to win the trade deadline championship? Like, I'm not understanding what the goal is here.I'd be happier if they traded Paxton for the Verlander package, so by definition, I'm ok with them not winning a title.
One is not under contract past a handful more starts, so no, they don’t have similar value at all.Like Schwarber did in 2021? Good, I guess? Paxton is 6 years younger than Verlander. Did he not have similar value? Would you not have driven him to the airport for the same package?
Add what?!? And for what cost?! He’s not just walking around a baseball grocery store.Agree to disagree. If we can win by keeping Paxton, add and go for it. If you can't, sell him for the future. And if you don't know, pick a lane. That's the job.
Doing nothing should not have been an option. If Bloom didn't think this team can make the playoffs, trade Paxton and Duvall and see what you can get. If he believed in the team, he needed to add. Not adding while others did makes the Sox worse and we have nothing to show for it.
E-Rod going westward after all that?E-Rod to the Braves or was that a joke account? Where did Pham get traded to? Wong?
Do you think this team has a chance to win a title? If so, then you buy. If not, then you sell. Simple as that.So you want them to win the trade deadline championship? Like, I'm not understanding what the goal is here.
Or both are wrong and they make the playoffs anyway with guys getting healthy and not spending a dime in prospect capital.Doing nothing should not have been an option. If Bloom didn't think this team can make the playoffs, trade Paxton and Duvall and see what you can get. If he believed in the team, he needed to add. Not adding while others did makes the Sox worse and we have nothing to show for it.
It is a lousy choice. We can't change it, but none of us has to like it and the media needs to be all over Bloom. He made a choice and it should cost him his job if it doesn't work. Inaction while the Jays, Astros, Rays, and Angels got better reduces the Sox chances of making the playoffs. Here's the thing: They have a shot at the postseason, and now they have to hope that they can get something from all the guys coming off injuries.
It's a choice we'll have to live with
I planning to grab the bridge to 2024 as we sail under it this month just before the ship goes down. This is bizarre to me. The team is so clearly entering a period of being very good and you're talking about abandoning ship.
No please, don't go
Bye, Felicia.
Peace out, assholes!Joe Morgan called via seance. He wants his shtick back.
