Penix throws a great ball. There has to some offensive system in the NFL in which he could excel.
The list of guys who were great college QBs but couldn't do anything in the NFL is very, very long.
The rule that you have to sit a play if your helmet comes off kind of seems like safety theater to me.
It makes sense if they’re using that time to check for broken straps, etc.
It’s based on the premise that helmets only come off if they aren’t attached correctly, which players do for a variety of reasons. It’s supposed to incentivize the player to get his shit right, because he might miss a key play.
Yeah, never really thought about that. Is that the reason? Seems kind of unusual though. Mostly it just gets unsnapped.
After countless hours of film study, I’ve come to the realization that Bo Nix is just Penix without the Pe.
They actually call illegal hands to the face in the NFL, so I’d expect fewer helmets to pop off before considering the impact of the rule (and also whether pros have better gears or are more diligent about strapping up).
Yup. Expect it to be one of those games with a crazy second half once they all settle down a bit.
