The rule that you have to sit a play if your helmet comes off kind of seems like safety theater to me.
It’s based on the premise that helmets only come off if they aren’t attached correctly, which players do for a variety of reasons. It’s supposed to incentivize the player to get his shit right, because he might miss a key play.

They don’t have it in the NFL. It doesn’t seem to be a problem.
They actually call illegal hands to the face in the NFL, so I’d expect fewer helmets to pop off before considering the impact of the rule (and also whether pros have better gears or are more diligent about strapping up).
