Ben Jonson?I'd like to see some new thinking on that side of the ball.
He'll get HC offers. I am more thinking this year's version of Ben Slowik, and that will take some digging.Ben Jonson?
Will Mayo stick around if he’s not named HC? Doesn’t feel likely to me, at least for more than a year. It’ll be interesting if Bill takes Steve with him somehow. In that case the Vrabel HC with Mayo as officia DC makes sense to keep stability with the Def.
We can only hope. I have connections to a former (recent) Pats player who said that Steve is pretty much the worst coach he’s ever played for, college or pro. And this guy has been in the league for a while. It’ll be interesting if Bill takes Steve with him somehow.
Honestly, I think the thing that matters the most this offseason is not the coach or the GM, it's getting the right QB. If they find the right guy in the draft, everything else will take care of itself IMO.I really think the better question is who is the next GM and what role (if any) will he play in selecting the next coach. I do not like the idea of hiring a coach and then a GM after. For the first time since the Parcells/Grier era the Krafts have to take into account the working relationship between GM and coach.
Um, take your meds.A wild-ass guess, totally unmoored from reality: Nick Saban?
I haven’t had my meds yet this AM.
I mean probably but the still need to go through the process of the Rooney RuleVrabel is already a done deal. Couldn’t me more obvious.
Seriously... shit-canning the Godfather so a bunch of bruised fruit from his coaching tree takes over seems like the fast track to spinning their wheels in the mud of mediocrity.Vrabel, Mayo, Flores...all BB-lite. If the offense is the reason BB is gone, I don't understand the interest in any of them.
This. I’m also out on McDaniels and hope that isn’t the plan. Start with Ben Johnson and bring in some new facesVrabel, Mayo, Flores...all BB-lite. If the offense is the reason BB is gone, I don't understand the interest in any of them.
If you want to fix the offense, you would actually hate Flores.I'd love Flores.
Vrabel isn’t from his coaching tree, and that’s probably part of his appeal.Seriously... shit-canning the Godfather so a bunch of bruised fruit from his coaching tree takes over seems like the fast track to spinning their wheels in the mud of mediocrity.
How about giving Eric Bieniemy a shot? The Chiefs' O taking a nosedive after he left seems to have strengthened his case.
I have to disagree. There’s ample evidence that bad organizations ruin potentially good QBs. Geno Smith comes to mind immediately as an example. Can’t remember where I saw a good breakdown of this (The Ringer), but so many promising QBs have flamed out because they ended up in chaotic organizations.Honestly, I think the thing that matters the most this offseason is not the coach or the GM, it's getting the right QB. Sure, he didn't coach under him, but Vrabel is for sure a disciple of BB. He was born the BB system, molded by it. He didn't see the light until he was already a man, by then it was nothing to him but blinding!Vrabel isn’t from his coaching tree, and that’s probably part of his appeal.
He knows the franchise. He knows the Patriot Way ™. But he cut his own path in coaching and had his own success. More success than either Flores or Mayo, or basically any other available coach besides Bill himself and Pete Carroll.
No fucking thank you.I wonder if RK might offer both spots to Harbaugh
Roger would take our draft picks just for interviewing him.I wonder if RK might offer both spots to Harbaugh
Please no.I wonder if RK might offer both spots to Harbaugh
I'd go with Pete Carroll, who is pumped and jacked and ready for a new challenge.A wild-ass guess, totally unmoored from reality: Nick Saban?

I’m referring to the Michigan coach, not the Ravens coach. With the assumption that he will be leaving UMichRoger would take our draft picks just for interviewing him.

Bring back Bledsoe too?I'd go with Pete Carroll, who is pumped and jacked and ready for a new challenge.
Both may be gone quicker than we think. There’s a lot of demand.I think they'll play the process out with both Vrabel and Mayo and will be glad to turn it over to one of them when it's done.
I would think Vrabel would want the NE job above all else and would wait for an interview. Both may be gone quicker than we think. There’s a lot of demand.
There's like a .00001% Vrabel takes a job before interviewing in New England. He's aware there's an opening. In fact there was a report yesterday that one of the reasons the Titans owner moved on was because of Vrabel not denying he would potentially have interest in NE.Both may be gone quicker than we think. There’s a lot of demand.
I took it as a joke about Harbaugh's infractions at Michigan. Spying etcI’m referring to the Michigan coach, not the Ravens coach. With the assumption that he will be leaving UMich
100% agree. Wrote virtually the same thing in another thread yesterday. Hire the GM first, then go after the best available offense mind. None of the three of those moves the needle for me.Vrabel, Mayo, Flores...all BB-lite. If the offense is the reason BB is gone, I don't understand the interest in any of them.
