Agreed.
Absolutely horrible call there, esp with Hardman as the option.
Just nonsensical to allow him to lose the game with so many better players on offense.

I agree, synchronize the rules so that ALL fumbles out of bounds go to the defense, right???

They have already been talking about changing that rule this offseason earlier this season.
But the end zone is officiated completely different from every other spot on the field. If you break the plane, it is a TD, play immediately OVER. If a fumble happens after that, doesn't matter. Not a fumble.
So the touch back rule is aligned with the end zone being different.

It's just so insanely over powered. Why not also award the defense 7 points and make the offense have to play with 10 guys the rest of the game? Since ball security in the red zone is so important.
I think the rule itself is hyperbole, is my point. The defense just being gifted an extra 20 yards by the touchback is so gratuitous
