Hard to know how real this all is and/or whether Harbaugh is using it as leverage for the LAC, but if I was Bill I wouldn't be super excited to be in a position of selling myself to ATL. His resume speaks for itself. Hire me or don't but let's not have the dog and pony show.
He's had exactly one team showing interest. His resume doesn't seem to be getting him many interviews so far. Maybe he's "overqualified".
As others have said, by rule there has to be a dog and pony show. That said, Harbaugh is not just a pro forma interview, though if it ends up that he'd prefer to be in SD and BB in Atlanta, the pieces will fall into place.
The Rooney rule requires interviews but not multiples of the same high profile candidates accompanied by tweets, media statements, etc. None of the other HC processes is being run quite like Atlanta's. If the other pieces fit, I am sure Bill won't mind much. It just seems a little cheesey and, if not handled well with BB, something that could rub him the wrong way.
I think he could very comfortably cruise for the next decade or so as the DC for a team with a good young QB, working 1/2 the hours with 1/3 responsibility he has now. Dick LeBeau was still the DC of Tennessee at age 80, Belichick could easily do that. If it weren't for the wins record being within reach.
I think Atlanta has a lot of positives--young talent, owner to provide unlimited resources and not known to be meddlesome, large fan base that is starved for a winner. Admittedly they don't have the QB, which is the most significant piece, but Harbaugh may see that as a problem that can be solved. Also, other things being fairly equal, maybe he would prefer the NFC so he doesn't have to face his brother. That would give Atlanta an edge over San Diego, Seattle, etc.
Just for the record, there was a post to you yesterday that said “no one likes your attitude”. I didn’t want to pour gas on the fire so I ignored it for the time. Now that everyone is calmer, I’ll say, I happen to enjoy it.
The longer this drags on the more I think ATL will hire one of the young bucks (Johnson, Slowik, McDonald). Seems like Bill just is not getting what he wants and vice versa. Pure speculation, but if it was going to work, they could have hired him already. They've done all of the required interviews.
I like my attitude too, but I have been pointed in my commentary to some people and if you push back against SoSH royalty who just spout like a confident, incorrect ChatGPT, it isn't appreciated. Because I am not royalty.
