    The funny thing is if Sale does what I expect and balls out this year and puts up like 4-5 WAR, his extension won’t look nearly as bad but the Red Sox will look worse because they lost out on the majority of his production on the extension and paid his entire salary for him to do it elsewhere.

    Sale tried it in 2019 when his elbow first barked. It didnt work for him, but it did work for Tanaka, Price and others.

    This is revisionist history. Sale had thrown 200 innings four times before signing that contract and had never missed significant time with a serious injury. You know how many 200 innings Giolito has? Zero. And he’s already had one Tommy John.

    I do find it pretty funny how they fired Bloom for not being the right guy or whatever, yet the organization is hitching their ENTIRE FUTURE to three unproven players who were brought into the organization by Chaim Bloom.

    They have almost no payroll commitments beyond this year. The fact that it would be so easy for them to dip under again next year is why people are having a hard time understanding why they are crying poor now.

    How can anyone be grossed out by what the Dodgers are doing? This is exactly the time of owners every fan should want. What the Red Sox are doing, charging a premium price for a mediocre product while slashing payroll is frankly what is disgusting. There can be no justification for it.

    That game against the Orioles was the famous 12 k’s in only 67 pitches or something. It was absolutely insane. And it was also the last time he threw a 99 mph fastball in a game until he did it last year against the Phillies.

He worked his ass off, was always accountable, quietly did charity work in the community (especially for vets). He was a good role model for the younger pitchers on the team. He got hurt throwing a bullpen during the lockout without access to team trainers. How was that his fault? Are we really going to call hitting a pothole and falling off his bike...

    Why? Because they don’t want the appearance of the new guy just inheriting Cora, like what happened with Bloom. They want the new guy to be the one to extend him even if the decision has already been made within the organization to extend Cora.
