Watching on DVR now. Data wasn't great for Poitras.

11:57 TOI
Shot attempts 15-6 San Jose
Shots 8-2 San Jose
Scoring Chances 8-4 San Jose
High Danger Chances 3-2 Boston
Expected Goals 0.34-0.31 San Jose
Actual goals 1-0 San Jose
77% o zone start

Essentially broke even by expected goals, but the 48% was the lowest on the team by far (Lucic 56% was next). Not a total disaster since but also not great considering the heavy o zone starts.

We'll see what the eye test says.

I know three games is a very small sample size but that puts the Bruins on a pace to finish behind 20 teams last season in Goals Scored. Pastrnak and van Riemsdyk have scored 7 of the team's 9 goals and I don't think that's going to work for the whole season.

I agree, but they should continue to improve, the defense is probably a top 5 crew in the league, and the goalies are arguably the best tandem in the league.

It's something to keep an eye, but I think it's too early for real concern.

It is going to be a question all year given what they lost but they currently lead the league in xGF/60, SCF/60, HDCF/60 at 5x5. Their 5x5 shooting percentage is 6.76% which would've put them dead last in the league last season by almost a full point.

Extremely early, a small sample and they've played garbage opponents, but if they keep those underlyings near the top of the league they should be OK.

Watching up close and personal, 9th row center ice, Beecher really impressed. Big, really fast and tenacious, he looked like an upgraded Charlie Coyle. I can see him as a long term 3C. And speaking of third lines, they were a real load last night. Not a lot of the usual Coyle puck possession, but good entries and hard on the puck. Strictly eye test but I thought McAvoy was the best player on the ice and he seemed to be getting the message about shooting the puck.
