The average NHL career for non-stars is 4.5 years or so. The 2011 playoffs were a long time ago in hockey terms.I’m watching highlights of the 2011 playoffs. It’s alarming how much both the Bruins and Habs have changed in 12 seasons. Only Krejci, Bergeron, and Marchand are still with the Bruins and active, and only Lucic is still in the league at all. For the Habs, I think only Eller is still playing.
Tyler Seguin, too!I’m watching highlights of the 2011 playoffs. It’s alarming how much both the Bruins and Habs have changed in 12 seasons. Seguin didn’t play until the ECF vs Tampa.Tyler Seguin, too!
Oh jeez, and Torey Krug, too. (But he barely counts.).
Ah, no, I missed Krug by a year.
Oh, for sure. But if, in May of 2011, you told a Montreal fan that none of Subban, Pacioretty, or Price would still be Habs today, I think they’d look at you as if you had three heads. It also speaks to the insane longevity of Bergeron and Krejci. The average NHL career for non-stars is 4.5 years or so. The 2011 playoffs were a long time ago in hockey terms.
Oh, you're talking specifically who's left from the Montreal series -- I just thought you meant from the 2011 playoffs. Gotcha.Seguin didn’t play until the ECF vs Tampa.
Well, we have a couple hours to kill.Oh, you're talking specifically who's left from the Montreal series -- I just thought you meant from the 2011 playoffs. Gotcha.
Well, we have a couple hours to kill.
So from that Bruins team, 20 skaters and 2 goalies dressed. Only 5 of the 22 are still playing: Bergeron/Marchand/Krejci for Boston, Lucic for Calgary, and Seguin for Dallas.
Montreal dressed 21 skaters and 2 goalies in their one series. Of those 23, Carey Price is as close to a current Hab as we have, but he’s done for all intents and purposes. Only Lars Eller is still in the NHL for the Caps, with a huge asterisk on Max Pacioretty, who didn’t play in the series due to injury, but is still active with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Philadelphia dressed 21 skaters and 3 goalies (Michael Leighton dressed in the first round vs. Buffalo), with one player still on the Flyers: James van Riemsdyk. Claude Giroux (Ottawa), Jeff Carter (Pittsburgh), and Sergei Bobrovskiy (Florida) are active elsewhere.
Tampa Bay dressed 22 skaters and 2 goalies in the playoffs. Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman, both 20 in those playoffs, remain as part of the core of the three-time defending Eastern Conference Champions to this day. Everyone else is gone, with Mike Smith the most recent retirement.
Vancouver dressed 25 skaters and 2 goalies in falling 60 minutes short. Of that group, only two skaters are still out there, with one holding on tenuously: Alexander Edler with LA, and Chris Tanev with Calgary.
Can confirm:I think the Bruins are wearing Pooh bear tonight
LOVEAnd I don’t know if it made it to the news thread, but if you’d rather have the crack bear, well…

I am cooling on these refs.I hate the Blues. I am warming up to the Bruins reverse retro jerseys. Either way, just win.
