Stoke up 2-0 over Man City because Xherdan Shaqiri is a magical goal generator.

Alpine Messi with two of the best 'beat this guy, beat that guy, make a lovely, perfect pass' moments you'll ever see.

These things happen.

Stoke now playing like they are up 14 goals, and everyone suddenly has a knock or an ouchie. Don't know how to handle success. As long as City stays organized, they're coming back with a goal or two or three, because Stoke looks shaky.

I dunno, City look really shaky at the back.

Arnautovic hits the post, denied his hat trick by the woodwork.

City look very shaky.

Needless to say this has not been an enjoyable morning thus far. Sacking the manager is not really much of a solution but my goodness am I starting to wonder. Not even any changes at the half after getting completely worked for 45 minutes.

Glenn Whelan definitely concussed by Bony's hip check to the head but he'll stay on because he's a tough guy...or something.

FWIW, Bony didn't mean to hip check him in the head but he did and Whelan was showing all the classic signs of a concussion.

Does Man City seem to be ignoring the wind? Like...why is everyone over the half line on Hart's goal kicks when he's hitting it into a 30 mph wind? The kicks aren't gonna travel as far as usual boys. Might want to retreat a few yards so Stoke doesn't win easy possession.

EDIT: Bringing #72 on in the 56th minute to replace a not-hurt Bony...doesn't send the message you're trying to win the game, Manuel.

Anyone else wondering how this stoke side lost to Sunderland?

I watched Wednesday look helpless against stoke on Tuesday night...while Wednesday were short a few creative players, Stoke's organization, size, and tenacity were impressive.

They're displaying a level of creativity that I hadn't seen though.

Ihena cho should have started. Bony has been just awful in a City shirt, I have no idea what happened to the player he was at Swansea but he's incredibly static and offers nothing. Iheancho is at least a willing runner.

If Arsenal can't win today, just pack it in.
Nah, Arsenal are two points out of first at most if they win, five points at most if they lose. Given that there are currently zero teams in the PL that are world-class at the moment, the title race will be wide open for a while.

Oh I know, it's was mostly sarcasm, with it being Sunderland at home and all.

I think the debate about Ozil's value - at least for the current calendar year - has been definitively answered. He has been consistently strong for a long time now.

Is there a question that his value is diminishing? I think he's been incredible for 18 months.

We're making the same point. He was a bit of a polarizing player for his first two years in London, but the run he's been on is proof of his quality.

EDIT: Here's one example from last April.

But can he do it on a cold windy night at Stoke ... ?

Should have beaten United, but with all our best attackers hurt I'm fine with taking a point away.

Excepting Leicester, is there a single Premier League you could say is full of confidence at the moment? I can't remember a season in which absolutely nobody wanted to win the League as much as this one.

FWIW, I don't know how anyone could not root for Leicester at the moment. I wonder how long they can stay in the title race? (I mean, if we were to somehow get to May with a two-team race between my team and Leicester, there's a serious possibility I might root for Leicester.)

Chelsea lost thanks to a goal from a player who once suited up for the Wilmington Hammerheads.

Leicester was offered at 2000-1 to win the league prior to the season! Probably the best sports story happening anywhere in the world right now.

Agreed. A close second is watching the prima donnas from Chelsea plummeting from the top. They're a despicable team of thugs getting their just desserts.

Liverpool have a risk-free channel from their area into the final third on the right; whether it's Clyne or Ibe, they can take possession and dribble it straight to the other end without a serious challenge.

Newcastle seem more interested in setting up two lines from the top of the D than in winning back possession once it's lost.

In the 83rd minute, there are no shots on goal in this game.

A Skrtel OG and a bad offside call when Moreno had it in the net have Newcastle up 1-0.

Have to admit, I had a bad feeling about this one before it started. They've played a lot of games lately, were due to come out flat in one. Too bad Coutinho wasn't healthy, this game was crying out for someone like him.

That offside call was brutal. The best thing about soccer to me is the flow, so I would hate to see replay, but jesus that was a bad call.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Skrtel wouldn't have been playing as a 3rd forward in a 1-1 game.

No kidding. But you're reduced to complaining about a single call against a team that is abject and gives up goals for fun so it's just delicious.

Like I said, I had a bad feeling about this game. Lord knows you guys were due to get a couple bounces and calls your way. As this weekend has showed, anything can happen this season. If it was a borderline call I wouldn't have even bothered saying anything, it's just frustrating that he was a good 2 yards onside and the linesman missed it.

Yeah that was a lucky call for Newcastle, who have generally fallen apart after giving up even one goal. They only have one result (6-2 v Norwich) that they didn't lose when the other team scored.

Yesterday skybet had a 2500-1 on LCFC to win and Chelsea relegated. That would be an awesome bet to win.
