An Alex Bregman RBI double made it 4-0, but the Cougars have scored 2 in the t-8th on a Landon Appling 2-run single. Still 2nd & 3rd with 2 outs.

Caleb Barker's 2-run single ties it up for Houston, 4-4. The inning is finally over, and LSU's coming up in the b-8th.

Washington now leads Georgia Tech 4-2, plating the go-ahead runs in the t-6th. A Robb Pehl RBI single and a Chris Baker RBI grounder to 1B where the only play was a toss to the pitcher covering 1st. They're through 8 innings with the Huskies coming up in the t-9th.

Virginia leading Arkansas 6-0, with the Cavs coming up in the t-6th. All their runs came in the 3rd as they sent 11 men to the plate. Two were unearned courtesy of an error by Hogs SS Michael Bernal. On the hill, Brandon Waddell has been cash money (5 IP, 4 H, 0 BB, 4 K) while throwing 49 of 69 pitches for strikes.

The Razorbacks get 2 in the b-7th on a 2-run HR by Krisjon Wilkerson. The Cavs then relieved Waddell after 102 pitches, and Whit Mayberry has held down the fort for UVA. Into the 9th now, Hoos coming up.

EDIT - It's a 9-2 win for Virginia, and they'll host a Super Regional in Charlottesville.

What a fucking double play to end a Kentucky rally in the b-7th. With Thomas Bernal on 3rd, pinch hitter Kyle Barrett lines out to CF Cole Sturgeon, who has to drop to his knee to grab it. But he uncorks a perfect line drive throw home just up the baseline to catcher Shane Crain. Bernal doesn't slide, and the collision is vicious, but Crain holds onto it. He gets up barking at the ump, who ejects the runner for not sliding. Crain then spikes the ball at home plate Pete Rose style and is greeted like a conquering war hero by his teammates.

Cards lead 4-1 in the t-8th.

LA-Lafayette's offense decided to explode, scoring 11 unanswered over the next 4 innings. They've got 18 hits on the night, and they're leading 14-3 with the Bulldogs coming up in the t-7th.

Louisville just put the shift on with Kentucky LH slugger A.J. Reed at the plate -- and they turned the inning-ending 6-5-3 double play. SS Sutton Whiting, positioned just left of 2nd base, fielded the grounder and shuffled it to 3B Alex Chittenden, who was positioned in the SS hole, as he sprinted across the bag and gunned it to first. A great short-hop scoop by Grant Kay at 1st finished it off.

Cards still up 4-1, t-9th.

KSU starter Jordan Hillyer walks the bases loaded full of Crimson in the t-3rd, and he's pulled after recording just 7 outs. Junior righty James Connell, a sinker/slider guy with an Eckersley-like windup & delivery, is on in relief. And on his first pitch, his (left) plant foot slides out from under him and he slips to his right knee, but he still throws a strike. Lucky he didn't get hurt there.

EDIT - After running the count full, he gets Wade Wass swinging at a Bob Stanley-esque sinker. Two down.

EDIT - He pops up Austen Smith meekly on a 3-1 pitch to get out of a major jam. This kid's pretty impressive.

LBSU loads the bases in the t-9th (infield hit, HBP, bunt single), and Eric Hutting drives in a run with another infield hit. 8-5 Dirtbags, bases still juiced with no outs.

EDIT - After getting a force-out at home, UNC's Benton Moss walks Colby Brenner to force in another run. 9-5 Long Beach, 1 down.

EDIT - Make it a 5-run inning for the Dirtbags (Hampson 2-run single, Patron sac fly), and it's 12-5 with UNC coming up in the bottom half.

EDIT - The Heels go down in order, and Long Beach advances to the regional final against College of Charleston. UNC is eliminated.

Bama takes the lead in the t-5th. Georgie Salem singles, gets to 2nd on a grounder to the right side, and scores on a Wass single as Wass takes 2nd on the throw home. Wass then moves to 3rd on a balk by Connell and scores on an Austen Smith sac fly.

2-1 Tide, mid-5th.

EDIT - A tremendous defensive play all around by the Tide saves an Owls run. After a Cornell Nixon leadoff walk in the t-5th, Kal Simmons bunts it shallow down the third base line where Bama's charging 3B Chance Vincent fields it and makes a great throw to second baseman Kyle Overstreet covering at first. Nixon, who was running on the pitch, kept sprinting around 2nd base, and Overstreet made a superb throw over to catcher Wade Wass, who was covering at third base. Wass swept the tag and while on replay it appeared Nixon got his left hand on the bag under Wass's mitt, he was called out. Regardless of the outcome or the accuracy of the call, this was a prime example of a college team that's been well-drilled on defensive fundamentals. Everyone did what they were supposed to do, and they executed it flawlessly.

After 1-out singles by Tyler Palmer & Zack Collins in the t-8th, a David Thompson grounder scores Palmer as Miami ties up Texas Tech 1-1.

The Canes are now batting in the t-9th. WIth one out, Willie Abreu reached on a throwing error by TTU pitcher Jonny Drozd, went to 2nd on a wild pitch, and an Alex Hernandez infield hit sent him to 3rd. But Drozd got a Garrett Kennedy grounder for an inning-ending 6-4-3 DP. Raiders coming up in the b-9th with a chance to win it.

Kennesaw gets leadoff man Georgie Salem, and now closer Justin McCalvin is on to try for the 2-out save -- and he hits Ben Moore with an errant slider on the upper arm. Tying run at the plate in Wade Wass.

EDIT - Solid line drive single to left, and it's 1st & 2nd with 1 out. It's Wass's 3rd single of the day, and he'll be run for by Hunter Webb. Austen Smith up.

EDIT - Wow. Ill-advised swing at a fastball well-outside, and he pops out weakly to 1st in foul ground. It'll be up to Kyle Overstreet.

EDIT - Called strike three! Kennesaw wins!! A generous call there on a 2-2 pitch, but tough shit. Overstreet had fouled back a couple of juicy offerings up high, so he lost any benefit of the doubt. The Owls are headed to Louisville for the Super Regionals. Alabama's season is O-V-E-R.

Colby Bortles goes deep for Ole Miss with a blast to RF off Washington's Will Ballowe, and it's 1-0 Rebels in the t-2nd over the Huskies.

They're knotted 2-2 with the Rebs batting in the t-8th, men on 1st & 2nd with 2 outs.

EDIT - Huskies RHP Adam Nesbitt gets the lefty-hitting J.B. Woodman swinging on a nasty slider that fell off the end of a table when it reached home plate. On to the b-8th.

Texas Tech wins. First time there hasn't been a team from Florida in the CWS in back-to-back years since 76-77.
What a shame.  If it wasn't for Florida's recent success in Omaha there wouldn't have been any in the state of Florida in a long, long time.

Indiana up on Stanford 3-0, but they're in a weather delay in the middle of the 3rd with the Cardinal due up. The Hoosiers get a Craig Dedelow RBI single in the t-2nd, and a 2-run shot to LF by Kyle Schwarber scoring Tim O'Conner ahead of him in the t-3rd.

Senior lefty Brian Korte on the hill for Indiana. Sophomore southpaw Logan James started for Stanford and worked 2+ innings (2 ER, 1 H, 3 BB, 3 K), but after walking O'Conner to start the 3rd he was pulled in favor of sophomore righty Marc Brakeman who yielded the HR.

A&M gets a Cole Lankford sac fly in the t-1st, and the Horns get a Tres Barrera RBI single in the bottom half. Knotted 1-1 heading to the 3rd. Junior righty Corey Ray toeing the rubber for the Aggies, with sophomore righty Chad Hollingsworth working for Texas.
