Wow, that would probably be the most extreme level of parity the league has ever seen.  27 of the 32 teams in this projection have between five and ten wins.  For comparison's sake, last year, only 18 of the 32 teams had between 5 and 10 wins, with eight being 11-5 or better and six being 4-12 or worse.   In 2012, only 19 had between 5 and 10 wins.  In 2011, 21.  In 2010, 22.  In 2009, 20.

There will be more teams that separate themselves as good, and more teams that separate themselves as bad than projected here.

AFCE: NEP 15-1; Miami 8-8; Buffalo 6-10; Jets 4-12
AFCN: Pittsburgh 10-6; Baltimore 8-8; Cincy 8-8; Cleveland 6-10

I dont see denver as being that good.  I think Trevathan and Welker injuries hurt them and cost them a couple wins.

Of course they are likely still good enough on offense to go 14-2.....13-3 ....but I am taking the under.(barely)

AFC
East - NE (14-2), Miami (8-8), NYJ (8-8), Buffalo (5-9)
I'm all in on the Pats...Miami has talent but with that O line don't think they can break through. The Jets defense is scary...I think they'll get off to a poor start with a tough schedule. Have the talent to make it back to .500, but they may also implode and go 5-11. Buffalo lost Alonso and EJ Manuel doesn't seem to have the right stuff. If EJ breaks out though, they could snag a wild card.

North - Cincy (12-4), Baltimore (8-8), Pittsburgh (7-9), Cleveland (3-13)
Cincy is deep and, playoff questions aside, the way he's looked this preseason I think Dalton is poised for a big season. I don't know enough about Pitt right now, and there defense is getting younger and better so am tempted to give them 9 wins and a WC. Cleveland has talent, but not at QB or WR or RB -- going out on a limb here, but I think skill position players are helpful, but that's just me.

South - Indy (10-6), Tennessee (7-9), Houston (7-9), Jacksonville (5-11)
Indy isn't that great, but has a weak schedule. Whisenhunt isn't a great coach, but the Titans are pretty good if Locker stays healthy and progresses a bit more. Houston has talent but no QB, and Jacksonville I'm really tempted to project as a breakout team. But I think they stick with Henne in almost a 1-season tank mode and will be ready to roll by next year.

West - Denver (11-5), San Diego (10-6), Kansas City (6-10), Oakland (5-11)
Denver is really good, but killer schedule and some injuries. That might be a bit optimistic on SD, but agree with Danoo on KC taking a step back. I think Oakland wins some games and is competitive once they start playing Carr (2-14 if they stick with Schaub_

WC - SD & tie breakers

NFC
East - Philly (12-4), Washington (8-8), Dallas (7-9), NYG (4-12)
I feel like Philly is a huge breakout team this year. Washington has a good defense, running game and it all depends on RGIII -- 10-6 if he's good, 6-10 if he sucks, so will say 8-8. Dallas is better than people say, and the Giants are as bad as people think.

North - Green Bay (10-6), Detroit (10-6), Chicago (9-7), Minnesota (5-11)
I love some of these teams -- GB looks really good and, laugh at me, but I think Caldwell is just the right fit to discipline Detroit's talent. Chicago I like a lot, too, but still lacking on defense. Minny to me is a bit like Jacksonville -- wouldn't be shocked by a breakout, but only when Bridgewater is the QB and probably not for another year.

South - New Orleans (12-4), Tampa (8-8) Atlanta (7-9), Carolina (3-13)
New Orleans looks great. Tampa will be tough -- good talent, better coaching now. Atlanta ...I dunno...I do really think that Carolina will implode.

West - Seattle (12-4), San Fran (10-6), Arizona (8-8), St. Louis (5-11)
Seattle looks like the best team in the NFL, though their record will reflect a tough schedule. SF isn't as good as people think and AZ is close but Carson Palmer only gets you so far in this division. St. Louis would have been a pick for 10 wins, but I just don't see how they do that with S. Hill as their QB.

WC - SF and Det

AFCCG - NE over Denver
NFCCG - Seattle over NO
Super Bowl - NE over Seattle

Dallas
AFC:
1. Denver 12-4
2. New England 11-5
3. Baltimore 11-5
4. Tennessee 10-6
5. San Diego 11-5
6. Pittsburgh 10-6

AFC is top heavy. Indianapolis and Cin missed the cut at 9-7. KC finishes the year 7-9.

NFC:
1. New Orleans 13-3
2. San Francisco 12-4
3. Green Bay 11-5
4. Philadelphia 9-7 (torn on them or the Giants for this spot)
5. Seattle 11-5
6. Chicago 10-6 (thought of putting the Cardinals here but Arizona has such a brutal division even with the Rams - Bradford)

Teams who didn't make the cut from last year: Carolina.

NFC is top heavy too. Overall a better league as well. The teams at the bottom last year didn't do much to turn themselves around - therefore little turnover. St. Louis? Bradford's ACL. If they had a decent QB they have enough in place to be competitive but they aren't at the level of SF or SEA which makes it hard to win a WC spot and they have little margin for error. Atlanta? Their squad is still overrated from two years ago. They're a corpse - just bury them already. Min? TBW and the young guys on D need a season more to develop but look out 2015. This is a team that if a few key young guys develop fast they could surprise. Lots of young play makers on defense too. But if rookies are rookies and they get average breaks I see them as cellar dwellers. Det? Look. If you make the argument that they underachieved last year and are primed to make a better run at it this year I buy it. I have them as a close 3rd finish to the Bears. Caldwell doesn't impress me at all though and this squad is so undisciplined starting from their side-arm slinging, gunz-a-blazing, and maddening interception machine QB. He puts up some numbers though too even if there is a bit of collateral damage. Tampa Bay is an interesting pick but until things break right there I'm avoiding the situation. I want to see some consistency before I stick my neck out for them.

AFCCG: DEN > NE 27-23.
NFCCG: SF > SEA 28-7

SB: SF > DEN 23-21. Prater is wide left.

ESPN has their predictions out. 16 national contributors.

16 pick the Patriots to win the division.
8 pick them to reach the Super Bowl. 5 pick Denver and 3 picked Indianapolis. Greg Garber, KC Joyner, Mel Kiper, Chris Mortensen, Mike Sando, Jim Trotter, and Field Yates picked the Patriots.
2 pick the Patriots to win the Super Bowl(Mel Kiper, Jim Trotter). Oddly, 4 picked SF.

In the AFC reporter pool, Mike Reiss and Coley Harvey pick the Patriots to win it all. 7 pick Denver. No NFC reporters pick the Patriots. Adam Caplan picks the Patriots.

How's everyone looking at this point? I'm still surprised by the Saints season thus far, and I was completely duped by the media-lead Atlanta hype machine. I really thought they'd boast a top-five offense.

I dropped the ball with my Titans pick. I thought they'd be that random team that has the big turnaround this year. I thought wrong.

AFC
East - NE (12-4)  Close
North - Cincy (12-4)  Could be
South - Ind (10-6) Close
West - Den (12-4) Probably close
WC - San Diego (11-5), Houston (9-7) Probably not on both of these

NFC
East - Phi (11-5) Should be close
North - GB (11-5) Should be close
South - NO (12-4)  Nope
West - Sea (12-4)  Nope
WC - SF (11-5), Car (10-6)  Wrong on both of these

Playoffs:
AFCCG:  NE over Den Still a good shot
NFCCG:  Sea over NO  NO is not making it
Super Bowl:  NE over Sea  Possible but not probable right now

Carolina and New Orleans have to be the biggest flops in the league this year. SF and Seattle are somewhat having down years, but they play in an insane division and either would probably run away with the NFC South.
