Gronk will be on Who's line is it anyway at 8 EST on channel WLVI. 8 or 808 in the greater Manchester NH area.

This could be amazing, or a disaster, but most likely both.

I'm hearing he'll be ready for week 3, if not sooner. Everything has gone better than expected.

How's Ferris feeling?

I think I wish I could come back in my next life as Gronk.

In his own genial, oblivious way, I dunno it I've ever seen a guy give as few fucks as Gronk. I wonder if he's even tangentially aware of the furor his silly pictures have created. The boxers are one thing, but 'touch my junk and post a pic online'? Zero fucks, Coach Bill, zero fucks. I'd love to see more celebrities extend both middle fingers to the social media proprietary police.

That "First Class Seat" story is one of the most hilarious fucking things I've ever read. Gronk wins, we all lose.

It had better be a high pick, because Tim Wright can't catch a cold. He's basically Brandon LaFell Redux.
He had one of the best catch rates among TEs last year.

Here you go, Cellar: http://espn.go.com/blog/tampa-bay-buccaneers/post/_/id/5661/lovie-smith-tim-wright-is-struggling

"He hasn't played as well as Tim should be playing," Smith said. "He's dropped some balls. If you watched practice, he's dropped balls. But he's a big part of what we want to do with the two-receiver, two-tight-end set. Tim hasn't blocked as well inside. Once you're that H-back and you don't block, now they say you're just another receiver and teams start going nickel. If they do that at least you have to be a good pass catcher. Tim's a good player. He just hasn't played as well as he needs to lately."

That's from Aug. 17, 2014

I'm evaluating his pass-catching skills on the most recent data available.  That Wright was in danger of being cut doesn't speak much for his current value.

Wright better show improvement quickly or else his spot on the roster could be in danger. Brandon Myers and Austin Seferian-Jenkins are locks to make the roster. Wright and veteran Luke Stocker could be competing for the final job at tight end.

Its going to be awesome in here when the Pats cut him net week.  :)

They easily could.  He had a good rookie year but he was undrafted a year ago and he obviously wasn't getting it done in Tampa this year.  I don't have high hopes at all.

True, but this is also receiving passes from a QB who used to be a gym teacher and only put up big numbers throwing to two of the best go and get it receivers in the game...

Quoting Corsi from another thread:

Corsi said:
74% catch rate last season.  Better than Graham, Thomas, Davis, Gonzalez, Cameron, Gronk, Celek, etc, etc...

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/te
And remember the general suckitude from the TB QBs:
  • Mike Glennon: -6.3 overall (-6.1 pass)
  • Josh McCow: 0.0 (0.1)
  • Mike Kafka: 2.7 (2.7)
Wright really is a move TE (-3.0 block grade) & you have to figure playing w/ TB would be a world of difference.

How many young receivers have been able to pick up the Pats system and contribute in their first year?  How many receivers have coming into the program ten days before the season and contributed?  Its not exactly the easiest offense to get in sync with quickly, especially if they want to run more no huddle this year.

Im expecting this to be a quasi redshirt year if Wright makes the team and Im definitely not expecting him to take many of Gronk's snaps early if he's not ready to go.  I expect Hooman gets the vast majority of run at TE if Gronk cant answer the bell early in the season.  Hopefully Wright can be a solid role player and maybe have a bigger role in '15 or (optimistically) down the stretch this year.

Per Bucs MMQB preview: http://mmqb.si.com/2014/07/30/nfl-tampa-bay-buccaneers-2014-team-preview/

Tim Wright, is a former wideout who can consistently beat safeties and even cornerbacks when detached from the formation. Wright has the body control and quickness to blossom into a top-five pass-catcher at his position over the next two years.
courtesy of a mention by Bedard's piece on the trade as posted elsewhere: http://mmqb.si.com/2014/08/26/logan-mankins-tim-wright-trade/

PFF grades him as a terrible blocker (no shock)
4 drops
Catch rate is intriguing and did some work downfield.
Only one broken tackle.

I see he wore Hernandez's number 81 in Tampa...think they let him keep it?

This video is worth your time, it contains over six minutes of Wright's catches from last year. Looks like he moves really well for a bigger guy and consistently makes difficult grabs look easy.

Tim Wright was successful under OC Mike Sullivan who ran an Erhardt-Perkins based system. Sullivan was the Giants WR coach before joining the Bucs. That should speed up his learning curve.

Oh. Weird.

I thought you were going to cite my post that you completely ganked it from a few hours ago.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the learning curve for Wright was minimal. Mike Sullivan was his offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay, and Sullivan made his bones with the Giants, who run a variation of the same Erhardt-Perkins system that the Patriots use. I don't know what scheme the Buc's ran, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a EP variation. Wright could very well be stepping into a comfortable situation.

By the way, bonus points for using the Sullivan wikipedia bio I used in my post as your source of information.

Unreal.
