As seen on the WWL:

Reporter: Do you have a favorite holiday song?
BB (smiling throughout): "Actually I enjoy all of them. I really do. Whichever one comes on it puts a smile on my face."

I may not have the quotes exactly but I'm damn close. He's been great at the podium this year. He's always been informative and thoughtful but I think there's been a concerted effort this year to be a little more friendly.
So Belichick knows as much about Christmas songs as Palin knows about magazines.

Some of you guys follow him more closely but that's one of the rare times he's drawn a straight line about why he's reluctant to answer questions. I mean, it's obvious to us that it's not because he's an asshole (or maybe not just because he's an asshole for those who think he maybe is) but that's about as close to explaining himself that I can remember from BB in a while.

In fact, I'd kind of say that it's actually a real response. His usual MO would be to not answer or call it a team matter. But the way he answered it is a little different -- it's almost an acknowledgement that what's going on with Jones is an issue that it's perhaps not illegitimate to ask a head coach about, while making the point that there are nevertheless strategic reasons not to answer it at this time.

Y'all skipped the key moments of the press conference, at 11:12

"Coach, how's your eye feeling, and, uhh, how'd you hurt it?"
"Great."

and then at 11:40
"When a team hasn't lost in 12 weeks, how do you find clues to beat them?"

And a classic Belichick response, delivered with the look of death, where he really got rolling:

"We prepare the same every week. We prepare to face the team that we face. We can't control what their record was or wasn't - 0-12, 12-0, 15-0. We don't have any control over that. All we can control is the team that we play and our performance against that team. So that's what we try to do. We try to prepare our team to play against our opponent. We don't worry about their record, what it was or wasn't. We don't worry about how many yards they gained or didn't gain. We try to prepare our team to play the opponent that we're playing - this week, Kansas City. It's the same way we do against every other team that we face. It's really not that hard."

He seemed particularly irritated today. Love it when he's pissed off.

He was on fire yesterday. Even attempts to play nice were met with disdain.

5:20 -"You've had 13 straight seasons with double-digit wins, 7th straight season in the playoffs, what's the key to sustaining your success?"

"I don't know. I don't really care about that. I'm just worried about the Chiefs this week."

His dismissal of the question is the answer to it, but that might be lost on some.

I was listening to that press conference live in the car. I literally answered almost every question the way he did as soon as it was asked before he even spoke. You know how he will respond to those kind of questions. It amazes me that these reporters don't understand what or how to ask questions to him to get a decent answer. It's really not rocket science, and it is their job. They are so brutally bad at it.

They're more interested in looking like tough guys, like non-homers who aren't afraid to ask the same stupid questions over and over, than they are in eliciting actual information their customers might find interesting. They really are a collection of un-interesting, not very bright, mediocrities.

Go f*ck yourself
"I'm sure the NFL database is tremendous" or something to that effect this morning after being asked about the 13 different offensive line combos they've had this year being a record.

I think there's a thread for Belichick's breakdowns, but I can't find it, so putting this here.

Someone in the national media finally discovered them:

http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2016/01/12/nfl-bill-belichick-new-england-patriots-football-mind-belestrator

It's kind of surprising they don't get more attention. His pre- and post-game film explanations are the best football learning out there.
Wow, these are awesome. Here's his breakdown of the Broncos from November: http://www.patriots.com/video/2015/11/27/belichick-breakdown-previewing-broncos

Also, he wears the same linen (?) shirt for every segment.

Slate cracks the code for getting Belichick to talk:

We found 969 events dating back to May 2007—press conferences, conference calls, etc.—in which Belichick took questions from the media. After sifting through that vast corpus of questions and answers, we uncovered the coach’s 100 longest soliloquies, all of which run past 500 words.

On the other end, we found 49 instances in which Belichick refused to dignify a reporter’s question with more than a single word. They are a joy to behold.

I wish he would have impersonated someone NOT getting a personal foul yesterday that essentially shut down a drive before it had a chance. Moved from 2nd and 5 to 2nd and 20.
