The Patriots were given the third-round pick for losing cornerback Aqib Talib to the Denver Broncos in last year’s free agency. The seventh-round pick came from losing linebacker Dane Fletcher to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It wasn't entirely like this because NE resigned Talib for 2013 (which gave rise to the comp), but they basically traded:
 
2013 #126 pick (NE 4th)
-for-
2012 Talib, 2013 # 226 pick (TB 7th), 2015 #97 pick.
 
That's a good trade.

Pats will get #97 or #98 next year for losing Revis.  Lions will get the other pick for losing Suh.

Revis's contract did not expire; his option was declined and he was released - no pick.

Reiss covered this in his chat yesterday. The technical determination is that he had a roster bonus not picked up, thereby he was not released and he will in fact garner a pick.

For signing Sheard the Patriots probably will not get a compensation pick for Browner.

Correct, currently they are in line for a 3rd and up to 3 6th rounders (Revis, Wilfork, Vereen, Ayers).
