Hockey tonight! on NESN!

Tonight's game is at 7:00 at the Dunk against the Devils. Piecing things together, it seems like the 2nd of the 3 groups the Bruins are split into is playing tonight.

Hayes - Spooner - Connolly
Rinaldo - Sexton - Randell
DeBrusk - Khokhlachev - Griffith
DeFazio - Kemppainen - Talbot

Irwin - Carlo
Zboril - Trotman
Cross - Miller (I think Colin but not 100% sure)

Gustavsson and Smith in net.

Giddy up.

He had some "I can't play in Providence forever" type comments. Good to see him play like he means it.

I liked Zboril's game too.

Yeah I didn't hear the comments myself, just read some of them - that's the kind of talk that I wouldn't think flies with Julien or this FO

Two PP goals for Irwin? We'll never see him again.
It's a good thing we have McQuaid's contract to potentially block him.

Trotman has looked really good tonight, at least in the strength department.  A couple players have just bounced off of him.

To be fair, Thompson had run him from behind into the glass a second earlier. I'm fine with him responding

No problem with responding, but once the dude's head is on the ground it's better to lay off, at least in my opinion.

Yeah, that's fair. I'm kind of meh about that kind of stuff, I feel like guys on all teams do it at this point.

What's he gotta do to stick? Shithead and Talbot both fall off a cliff or something? Would love to see him get a legit shot.
I think his best shot is a top 9 injury. I don't think they'd put him on the 4th line regardless of how he plays this preseason.

Yeah, that would be my bet.

My thoughts from the game:

-- Smith and Gustavson looked good. They were solid all game, although Smith looks like he's better controlling rebounds.
-- Spooner looked good. Hayes was solid. He had a great screen on the first goal.
-- I thought Connolly looked like crap. Felt he was a step slow, out of position and did not seem very engaged.
-- Koko looked fast and crisp.
-- Colin Miller looked good. I liked his skill set live for the first time, and that hip check was great.
-- DeBrusk was lost and slow and times, but around the net you can see the natural skill. Thought he had really good instincts in close.

Can't recall much else, but I would really like to see more out of Connolly if he's going to play top 9 minutes. I also was not a huge fan of him with Spooner.

Connolly seems like a better fit for Krejci's wing. I don't think he has the foot speed to keep up with Spooner.

Griffith out 3-4 weeks might help a little.

Our tickets are available for tonight if anyone is interested and can make it down. Half a pizza and a case of beer or something like that.

Roster for tonight's game against Washington. I'm not sure if there is any live coverage.

Beleskey - Krejci - Pastrnak
DeFazio - Khokhlachev - Senyshyn
Vatrano - Czarnik - Ferlin
Blidh - Kelly - Hickman

Krug - McQuaid
Arnesson - K. Miller
Morrow - Casto

Subban
McIntyre

Not sure which goalie starts. Either way, I assume they both play.

Koko gets another look along with DeFazio.

Bummer if it's not on or being streamed anywhere. I'd like to take a look at Vatrano, and see whether Pasta has added any weight to his frame.

Yes. Each team gets 3 preseason games that will have a 3-on-3 OT regardless of score to get everyone used to it.

Stream is just the in house camera for the scoreboard. Pretty cool, actually. No announcers.

Just kidding, Goucher and Beers piped in

5:00 left in the first, 0-0. A bit of a snoozer. Both teams have had PP's. Best chance for the B's was a quick rush up ice where Czarnik fed Vatrano who hit the post. I'm liking Czarnik.

1st period over, 0-0. Subban makes 9 saves. I liked. Czarnik and Blidh that period.

Still 0-0 midway through the 2nd. Zane coming on. So far, by save percentage:

Gustavsson 100
Smith 100
Subban 100

NO PRESSURE ZANE

Pastrnak scores, 1-0 B's. Weird goal, it was kind of a backhander from basically even with the goal line.

Tied. Writer from the point off a face off goes in.

3rd ends 1-1. Kelly got robbed on a 2-on-1 late, but that was about it for the period.

3-on-3 time. Giddy up.

Krejci/Pastrnak/Krug to start. Awesome.

Roster for tonight:

Marchand - Bergeron - Eriksson
Hayes - Spooner - Connolly
Vatrano - Czarnik - Talbot
Shithead - Kemppainen - Randell

Chara - C. Miller
Irwin - Carlo
Morrow - McQuaid

Smith and McIntyre are in net.

2nd straight game for Czarnik, Carlo and Vatrano. That lineup is about 70% of what we'll see opening night. No game for Rask yet.

NESN+ is carrying the MSG feed for the game.
