Oh, I see. Yeah, seems like there should be a camera right on the goal line and in every stadium. Maybe the NFL can rent to own as a way to defer cost.

i believe the views we see now are manned cameras. sometimes they are in position, sometimes not. what BB is proposing, i believe, are fixed cameras. cameras that would always have the goal line dead down the barrel, presumably on both sides and probably the end line corners as well. this woulf take chance and guesswork out of determining where the camera guy is on the play.

As soon as they find a corporate sponsor to pay for the cameras so they can slap their logo on it, this will be done.

"Let's take a look at the GoPro goal line cam brought to you by Fidelity Investments...touchdown. "

It's a money grab just like everything else the nfl does.

@MikeDynon: @GlobeChadFinn Goodell makes $44 mill/yr & Judge Judy makes $47M. NFL could upgrade for mere $3M that they're not spending on sideline cams.

You know what the next rules change is gonna be next year? Tweaking the compensatory formula so that the Pats can't exploit the "loophole" whereby they release Revis and still get a pick for him.

I'd actually be in favor of this. I think it's kind of dumb that the Pats (and other teams) can get the benefit of spreading bonuses over multiple years but still get the benefit of compensation picks because technically they declined to pick up a bonus and didn't cut the player. The Patriots don't deserve any blame for taking advantage of a dumb rule, but I still think it's a dumb rule.

Here
Seifert is not a fan of the Belichick, so that article is unsurprising.

Still < $1M per owner. It is basically the cost of the 53rd man on the roster. Maybe slightly more. Peanuts.

It's .0025% of the annual revenue the league brings in. Given that it should help the on-field product, seems like a no-brainer.

They should just have all teams add a surcharge to tickets and list it as the Bill Belichick Fee just to further enrage the other fans.

There are 288 preseason + regular season games for which fans pay full price tickets. At 65,000 tickets per game, this comes to 18.72M total tickets each year. So it would basically cost $1/ticket.

Boggles the mind that they NFL won't spend $20M on this.

Maybe next year the Patriots will win a game on a controversial goal-line call and we'll have the cameras for 2016.

I am still bitter about the Denver loss in the 2005 playoffs. That game is probably the reason why we do not have cameras yet,. It screwed over the Pats, so no cameras = good.

Still waiting for an explanation how the ball was dislodged from Baileys right hand at the one yard line and also went OOB at the one yard line.

Unless the ball physically went through his body totally parallel its a touchback. Still makes me mad.
