Duh.
I'm a dumb american, clearly
(Incidentally, as someone who has played hockey my whole life and made many trips to Canada, I love the place...except when we play them.)
Canada - US games have become the chief rivalry for us the past decade or so. Although I really miss the pure angst of playing the Soviets.

And as you guessed it. I hold down the Canadian (Nova Scotian actually) chapter of the Bernie Carbo fan club.

Kind so sad to see the Russians knock off the US today .. Too many stupid penalties.

I always get a kick out of the wailing and gnashing of teeth whenever national junior teams fail. A bunch of nineteen year old kids have a lousy two or three games and it's somehow and indictment of an entire hockey program.

Twibnotes .. Nice fuckin' avatar

These tournaments are often a matchup/officiating/luck crapshoot, especially among bigger powers like US/CA/RU/SE - it's not rocket appliances.

Eichel could have been bigger I suppose? Overall wasn't really upset with the US's effort, it didn't break for them.

Yea I was a bit disappointed with Eichels effort after the first period of the Canada game. I think he took some big hits, and Canada got into his head a bit. He played a very passive game and a half after that (minus a couple real nice net drives).

Thanks, BC. Of course, finding a good avatar isn't rocket appliances.

Edit: whoa, Pedro Special K beat me to the punch. That guy is smarter than Indianapolis Jones.

Not that I would admit watching the Trailer Park Boys but it does have a certain charm to it. The series (and subsequent movies) were all made here in Halifax .. They started out shooting in actual trailer parks but quickly wore out their welcome. Eventually they had enough money to actually build their own dedicated set. I find it amazing that you could have a successful TV show based largely on the single gag of swearing on TV.

Swedes are owned by the Russians 4-1 while Canada just dominated Slovakia to the tune of 5-1. Canada could have doubled their score if it was not for the brilliance of the Slovak goalie. Should be a good final tomorrow with Canada vs Russia.

Yes, another solid effort from Team Canada, and the Slovaks played much better.
I didn't see the other game, and am surprised the Russians won. Should make for a good final.
Don't feel too bad, my American brethren. You can always rest assured that Dunkin' Donuts is superior to Tim Horton's, and almost no Canadian knows it.

Nice. Why does there need to be a "panel" of hockey experts for any and all occasions? It's the NFL pre-game show of Canada,

This was a great final with momentum going back and forth like being on a roller coaster. Give the Russians credit no quit even though they went down 5-1 in the second. A penalty parade by Canada led to the Russian comeback. McDavid finishes with 11 points and got stronger as the tourney went on.
