Yup. We have Freese and Lichtenberg when it doesn't matter. Annoying.Team may have made 3 BCS bowls last decade if they had a kicker like this.
It must be so easy coaching against him.4th and 1, and Daz predictably goes to a slow developing deep handoff to Hillman. I don't think there was a person in the stadium who didn't know that was going to be the call there
That was ugly Griese went through the whole litany of Daz complaints in 30 secondsDazz whining about the "tough schedule" to Griese. Griese playing his violin for Dazz.
Brown has a chance if he gets to work with a real coaching staff in the future. Honestly I think he looks much better as a passer than Wimbush. Of course Wimbush has managed to completely rewrite the ND record book as a runner today. One takeaway. I think Brown might be legit. Very impressive today. I wish he'd run a bit more but his throws looked good.
They suck. Outside of Landry, there is no elite talent anywhere on the field. This program might literally never be good again.Yup, I'm afraid BC really is a horrible team. I haven't seen much to get excited about.
And Landry really does look like just a specialist. Now admittedly he is is specialist in something the NFL craves, and will pay him very handsomely for. Not sure he made a good decision to spend another year at BC, just hope he makes it through the season healthyThey suck. Outside of Landry, there is no elite talent anywhere on the field. I mean, it's tough to say. I'm not sure he's big enough to be a 3 down DE in the NFL but he has been told to do exactly one thing while at BC. I'm not convinced he's a first round pick but would be a nice pick in 2-3 for a team. You can't teach those pass rushing skills and just wait until he gets a real coach. And Landry really does look like just a specialist. It is possible, but that is certainly NOT what Landry is telling the National media types. Announcers today made it quite clear Landry says he want to play more2. Landry most likely has a deal with the coaches to keep his playing time down and keep him healthy and effective as a condition of returning. Do with that what you wish.
Walked through aisle on top of the student section, section J and such, in the 3rd quarter, must have been 5-10% ND fans. I almost lost my s**t. I mean I understand it must have been mostly siblings and HS friends or whatnot, but it was disgusting. Why were they let in the student section? You want to bring your sister/brother who goes to SBCC, gets seats in the regular crowd.Any guesses how much of the crowd at Alumni was rooting for the home team? There were quite a few ND fans at Fenway on Thursday.
If I heard it correctly on the radio, they are now 1-25 under the Dazzler when trailing at the half. No idea who the win was.Can wait for Bernie to update his stats about how we fare when traveling at halftime. Man how I long for the days of a coach who could adjust.
There is no point for Landry to come back on a snap count. Should have just gone pro. Scouts will only be able to analyze what they already know he can do. He needs to show that he can be a 3 down lineman. It is possible, but that is certainly NOT what Landry is telling the National media types. Certainly possible but kind of weird. Just go pro if you are worried about injuries. Of course, it didn't hurt Clowney's draft stock. I think NFL scouts pretty much know what they're getting with Landry.Mike I know that's the public perception, so there's something going on there. The inside scuttle is that Landry asked to be shielded but obviously that's not what is being sold outside.
I'd be quite surprised if a guy who was just named as an NFL defensive coordinator would get off his current track to lead a crappy ACC program. But Vrabel is exactly the kind of coach this program needs.Vrabel would be great. His son Tyler is a BC commit, so it's not a total pipe dream.
It wasn't nearly as many as five years ago. Even the ND sections were about a quarter empty. I'd estimate no more then 20%.Any guesses how much of the crowd at Alumni was rooting for the home team? There were quite a few ND fans at Fenway on Thursday.
Solution: require an ND rejection letter to get access to the student section.Walked through aisle on top of the student section, section J and such, in the 3rd quarter, must have been 5-10% ND fans. I can handle, 50, 60% in the regular seats, but the student section should be the BC student section. At worst, casual people. Not ND fans in ND shirts and hats.
Difference between BC and ND students/graduates: BC graduates know the difference between "than" and "then."It wasn't nearly as many as five years ago. Even the ND sections were about a quarter empty. I'd estimate no more then 20%.

I'd rather wait in line for a beer than watch the actual games.Good news: you can now buy a Budweiser inside Alumni Stadium
Bad news: there are roughly 10 points of sale in the entire stadium (none in the upper level), leading to unconscionably long lines when there is a crowd
Obvious news: lines will likely be more manageable going forward
They fired Jags for a whole lot more than interviewing elsewhere. Look at his record after leaving BC. He had a good record for 2 years, but his first recruiting class had already blown up, and he had almost stopped recruiting. And there were off field rumors. The interview was just something that gave GDF enough cover to make a move he felt was required.Yeah, I never understood the mindset that BC shouldn't hire an up-and-comer with dreams of bigger schools or the NFL because they might leave in a few years. The fact that BC fired one of its most successful coaches (Jagodzinski, admittedly in a small sample size and with players mostly recruited by TOB) for merely interviewing for such a job becomes more and more depressing by the year as we see how less-talented, less-ambitious coaches have fared.
Daz up and comer? He went 4-8 in his last season at Temple! Whatever process lead to Daz's hiring needs to be nuclear bombed. They fired Jags for a whole lot more than interviewing elsewhere. That said I agree with the basically premise. BC should not be afraid to hire another Tom Coughlin , because he might leave quickly.
In some ways the head moron in charge was an example of that. Daz was thought in some circles as an up and comer. He jumped out of his previous job after 2years. And face it dream job or not he tried to leave BC after 2 years, but got rejected at the jobs he wanted, so BC gave him a ridiculous extension and raise to stay
Yes, but there were reasons behind that, they had a massive increase in schedule strength that year. He was considered in many circles a hot hire at the time. Former national recruiter of year, 2 National titles as an assistant.Daz up and comer? He went 4-8 in his last season at Temple! Whatever process lead to Daz's hiring needs to be nuclear bombed.
And don't forget, the player's HS coach, in most cases, is very much aware on a broader level what the player's abilities are and where they may be better off. The player likely has a 2-4 year relationship with that coach and respects their input into the process. How effective is Daz in swaying this influential source?I don't doubt that Daz is a good recruiter in a vacuum - he seems fairly media-savvy and can come up with cool catchphrases and the like that seem to appeal to at least some recruits.
But you simply can't recruit good players if you are a bad coach because recruits are not dumb and no matter what BS you throw at them in your meeting, they will look at your record the past couple of years and if it's really shitty, they are not going to be tricked into playing for you.
