This is exactly right. Watch the Redskins who jumped offsides. First of all, neither of them was looking at the ball when they jumped offsides. Second, after jumping offsides, neither of them even glances towards the center, or the refs and or remotely acts as though they were drawn off. I mean, shit, guys who aren't drawn off routinely point at an offensive lineman and claim they moved when they didn't. If the reason they moved was because of the snapper, at least one of them would've said something.
And if the rule is based on the fact that the refs only call it because it "led to another violation," wouldn't it have to, you know, actually lead to the violation? I don't buy it for a fucking second. It's either a penalty or it's not a penalty, whether or not the defense jumped is not relevant. So a center can do whatever he wants with the ball, and as long as nobody jumps, it's not an infraction? Is that the new rule?
