Those criteria are the *minimum* needed to gain entry now, not auto-qualifiers.It's an automatic criteria with 2 majors. The auto criteria is dumb IMO.

Another dumb controversy for the tour. Just tell him behind closed doors whether he can keep using it or not, they're not going to retroactively punish him. He's been doing it for two years apparently. The Tour is apparently investigating DeChambeau for using a compass in competition.
Okay, I give up. What the hell is he using a compass for? In case he wants to hit it North?Another dumb controversy for the tour. Just tell him behind closed doors whether he can keep using it or not, they're not going to retroactively punish him. He's been doing it for two years apparently.
I think the players care quite a bit.Does anyone care about the golf HOF? I’m a huge fan and didn’t even know they had one until this thread.
Wrong compass.Okay, I give up. What the hell is he using a compass for? In case he wants to hit it North?
Ah, got it. And how would that help on the golf course?Wrong compass.
Who knows, the kid is a fucking weirdo.Ah, got it. And how would that help on the golf course?
I'm assuming measuring distances from points of reference, especially from pins around the green. While out on the course these guys have incredibly detailed yardage books with breakdowns of each green:Ah, got it. And how would that help on the golf course?
They have every square inch mapped out. Let em laser and put a clock on them when it’s their turn to putt. That calculating distances is a skill?
You want to compare Cooperstown to something nobody knows exists be my guest. Why would baseball players care about going to someplace in rural upstate NY anyways ?
Outside agent like a Yardage book? Ha.I think its something like its an outside agent that helps the player choose a club, or some shit like that. Its a stupid rule, and I doubt it will be around much longer.
I am guessing that you are in the minority in terms of "hugs golf fans". Some may not know that it is in St. Augustine (though it is hard to miss during the Florida Swing, alongside commercials for the Villages), but I am guessing even most casual ones know that there is one. Of course, I've also been to the Soccer Hall of Fame, which is in probably the most head-scratching location. You want to compare Cooperstown to something nobody knows exists be my guest.
I watch hours of golf coverage a week and most events. I literally never hear the HOF brought up.I am guessing that you are in the minority in terms of "hugs golf fans". Literally first time I’ve ever seen that ad. I’ll have to take a trip down. This ad is on literally every day of every golf tournament and it's very well attended. Golf fans definitely know it's a thing.

See that's the thing about the golf HOF. It doesn't take itself too seriously, has a bar that needs to be crossed and once you cross it you're in after 40, regardless if you're still playing or not. It's actually much more fun to follow than the other HOF processes.Literally first time I’ve ever seen that ad. I’ll have to take a trip down.
Like most HOFs I’m sure it’s a broken system that lets in too many marginals guys who weren’t ever in the top tier of their generations, but that’s a different argument for a different day.
I haven’t watched a commercial outside of a live nba or nfl game in years so that’s likely it.It think they moved it to 50 sometime recently, no? Like Phil is in but Tiger has to wait until he is 50? I could be wrong on that.
I don’t know how it is possible to watch golf and not see the Gary Player add 37362839 times.

I just assume any sport that gives regular TV coverage and has been around for quite some time has a HOF. I don't watch Tennis but I'm guessing it has a HOF and I could probably name a few players in it. Hell, Volleyball probably has a HOF.I watch hours of golf coverage a week and most events. I literally never hear the HOF brought up.
I don’t care if people care about it but I think the percentage of fans who know it’s a thing is small.
Been to the Volleyball HOF. It's about as big as a Starbucks.I just assume any sport that gives regular TV coverage and has been around for quite some time has a HOF. edit: Volleyball does, and it's in Holyoke, Mass. Go figure.
Short slant neck. Those have been popular lately. It seems like more tour players are moving toward mallets but fewer mallets are face balanced.Tiger has put a Taylor Made mallet putter in play today. Very weird watching him with a mallet.
I believe Day, DJ and a few others use a Spider with toe hang. Most of the popular mallets are faced balanced, the TM Spider, Cameron Futura's, most of the Odyssey's, etc. But that TM Ardmore he's using is toe hang, which is what I would expect if he was ever going to use a mallet. He talks often about releasing the toe during his swing so that toe hang is important. Curious to see how he putts with a mallet. There are pros and cons for him based on his history.
I didn't realize that many mallets are toe hang. Definitely a new trend. Just checked my Rossie II and its a bit of a heel hang. Supposed to be face balanced, so next time I play I'm going to be a head case.I believe Day, DJ and a few others use a Spider with toe hang.
Toe hang mallets are becoming the norm.
It’s a trend. It seems like there’s some acknowledgment that very few players have a true straight back straight through putting stroke and some putting strokes may benefit from some toe hang even if with very little arc. Everyone is different.I didn't realize that many mallets are toe hang. Definitely a new trend. Just checked my Rossie II and its a bit of a heel hang. And a day after his longest converted putt came from 9 feet, Woods knocked in birdie putts from 26, 24, 19, 16, 3 and 2 feet. The four putts he made that were longer than 15 feet were the most he’s made in a round on the PGA Tour since the 2014 Honda Classic.
It's not a trend, you'll probably see face balanced putters go out of style. 3D modeling is teaching us a lot and one of those things is that a straight back and through swing doesn't really exist. Some putters have 45 degrees of toe hang for the people that really release the putter. A lot of the mallets have 20ish or less. It’s a trend. Uh, so you agree with me? It sounds like we're in violent agreement. Maybe I don't understand what "trend" means but I think I do. I don't think this is a passing fad. You know it has nothing to do with it being a hassle for them. And I wonder what he's doing on 10...so stupid how coverage ends at 245 and then gets picked up again at 3.....would 15 more minutes be that much more of a hassle for them geesh
