Seems to me to put cold weather teams in position to start slowly, but maybe I am looking at it wrongly.Agreed....I think it makes sense early in the season for MLB to focus on warm weather locations and domes
There is certainly an argument to made for that... Between increasing to 162 games and adding an additional round to the playoffs they are forced to play games that count in March. Doesn't leave a lot of good options.Seems to me to put cold weather teams in position to start slowly, but maybe I am looking at it wrongly.
Cora may have the pitchers report in April.March 26? Yikes! Pitchers & Catchers reporting before the SuperBowl?
Concur. At one park I can spend $50.00 for my entire family's tickets. At the other, I'd be lucky to spend only $50.00 per family member, but I probably will anyway. This Chicagoan is excited that Boston will be visiting both parks.
As someone on the west coast I am also annoyed by the early west coast trip. I don't want the only Seattle time to be in April either. With the stipulation we’re at home for Patriots Day, we always have an opening road trip, or almost always.
I’m bothered by another early west coast, another late 4 game Rays series and bunching up BJs and O’s together, and finishing with the O’s at home again. The schedule shouldn’t be that similar in consecutive years.
Edit: back to back weekend Houston series in May is another similarity
4 out of 7 weeks, blah.ESPN released the first half of the Sunday Night Baseball season schedule. The Sox are on 4 times.
5/10 at NYY
5/24 vs. Houston
6/14 vs. NYY
6/21 at Cubs
I really wish that Fox and ESPN would just go away.Yankees 5. Seriously annoying.
For some time now I have espoused adding two teams, then forming four 8-team leagues with a 154-game schedule. Just share the money generated from the extra play-offs a little more broadly. And don't play regular season games in March or October.6 in March, but agreed. Who the hell wants March baseball? There's nothing appealing about starting the season so early. The first 4 will be in a dome (and domes suck) but the next 3 will be in Baltimore. How many people will come out to sit in the cold for those?
They really need to go back to a 154-game season.
