Perfect timing for a 35-pt comeback win after our discussions this week. Wizards say “Hold my Beer!”

Can someone explain what has happened to Beal’s 3 point shooting? 29.9%? Yuck. Roughly 35% last few years, which is decent but certainly not elite.

Combination of just a crap season shooting the ball, and atrocious spacing.
It has coincided with his moving from being a pure 2 with Wall as his 1 to him playing more of a combo-1 slasher prior to this year. I’d attribute his further fall off this year the same as other Olympians who had no offseason, couldn’t train with new ball, etc etc. Mostly a positional change from earlier in his career though without having Wall distributing to him.

Beal didn't go overseas but that didn't stop him from training w/ a different ball.

Maybe going from a 2021 NBA ball then the Intl/Olympic ball for the summer to a new 2022 NBA ball over 4mths had an impact on 3pt shooting? Or extended time/overseas travel/wear n tear on the players didn't help?

This is just a cursory look

3pt% up( +) or down (-) from last season

US Olympic shooters: Durant(-), Tatum(-), Middleton(-), Booker(+), Holiday(-), Lilliard(-), Keldon Johnson(+), Jerami Grant(-), LaVine(-),

notable Foreign/NBA shooters: Fournier(-), Batum(+), Doncic(-), Rubio(+), Mills(+), Ingles(-), Gallinari(-), Campazzo(-), Rui Hachimura(+)

Seems like the American players were negatively impacted

Keldon Johnson is the one American who probably received a massive boost of confidence with his inclusion. He is shooting lights out this season

Booker’s 3FG% is slightly up, but his 2FG% has tanked, leaving him at a desultory .548 TS on the season.

Soooo many scoring studs having moderate-to-severe dips in efficiency this season: Steph, Harden, Tatum, Dame, Beal, Booker, Luka, Mitchell…

Yeah nice brain fart on Beal being overseas last summer. Booker recovered quickly but was a shooting in the 20’s over the first month or so iirc

Plenty of quit in the Kings for the second straight game. They're down big on the road against ATL, which is headed toward its fifth straight win.

Hornets have over 150 against the Pacers and there is still a couple minutes left to play. Oubre has 10 three’s…….remember the start of last year when people said he couldn’t shoot bc he missed like 25 in a row? Oh boy

Best point differential in the East…the Cavaliers.
Just smacked the defending champs too.

Cavs are legit. They got a steps forward from Allen, a monster rookie in Mobley, Garland took a step up, Love adjusted to a bench role, and Okoro improved.
the Allen Mobley combo has been huge, they just erase the last 10 feet around the rim and that has made everyone's D better.

Wow didn't know that either. It sounds like he is doing well on his recovery at least.

Nice to see Kevin Love return to being a weapon off the bench along w/Cedi.

Still not a buyer of present-day Rondo and think they need to go get a guard

Don’t know how many of you pay attention to the Wolves but like the Cavs with Darius Garland, they have a young guard who is ascending to All-Star status in Anthony Edwards. Another example of how raw shooting percentages are a horrible barometer of whether a young player is a good shooter or not.

Their raw shooting numbers are good though?

Unless by young you mean judging young guards by raw shooting % in their rookie year. Hard to judge any player by their raw numbers in their rookie years. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/duranke01.html

At some point you have to judge them by their numbers but their rookie year aint it.

Agreed. For me, release/mechanics and ball rotation are the best live evaluation tools (which is why I was always high on Lonzo’s shooting upside bad well as Jaylen’s when at Cal). Year over year FT% improvement is my favorite metric which shouldn’t be confused with FT% of a college freshman or NBA rookie.

I recall reading here and other places how Edwards “couldn’t shoot” which came to mind reading about him today.

Did I miss the discussion, or are we all just collectively choosing to ignore that Andrew Wiggins was chosen for an All-Star team?

He’s been fantastic this year. I’m not surprised he made the team especially with all the injuries out West but to be a starter is kinda funny when you’ve got Towns, Gobert, AD and Draymond to beat out.

Western Conference forwards are pretty slim pickings at the moment. Paul, George, Kawhi, Zion, Michael Porter Jr. are all out.

I probably would have gone with Anthony Edwards paired with LeBron.

Other than that: THJ, Mikal Bridges, Desmond Bane, JJJ, Keldon Johnson, Jalen Green, Jae’Sean Tate, Bojan, Ingles, Harrison Barnes?

It’s “frontcourt,” not just forward; clearly Gobert and KAT (at minimum) were more deserving.

At the same time: 3.4 million K-Pop fans can’t be wrong. :)

Sixers quietly within 2 games of the #1 seed … along with five other teams. The East looks like anyone’s for the taking right now, with BOS, ATL, CHA now all getting hot for good measure…

Players also voted Kyrie 8th (ahead of Jaylen), media has him 9th.

With Jaylen being 10th among guards, does that make him less likely to be selected as a replacement, and save the Cs a couple million this year?
I think there is very little chance Jaylen gets in. I'd have him behind every guard on that list besides Kyrie and Rose.

Hornets up 1 less than 24 seconds left. Lakers go to foul , hornets call time out. Espn cuts to MJ slamming things and storming out of his owners box. Tells you everything about today’s game.

The Lakers roster outside of Lebron and AD is just CRAZY bad. Amazing they even made it a game with the Hornets.

Westbrook, Monk, and Carmelo are the only other guys that would maybe sniff the court with another team in the NBA. THT turning into a pumpkin definitely didn't help.

Stanley Johnson, Austin Reeves, Kent Bazemore, Wayne Ellington, the corpses of Deandre Jordan/Avery Bradley/Trevor Ariza got 144 minutes tonight.

Lebron might be angling to leave his Brentwood mansion and return to Cleveland soon.

This is joked about often…….but he’d be the ideal final piece for these Cavs to steal another title.

The current Lebron-Less Cavs would beat the Lebron-Less Lakers by 50 points a game.

Of course, Lebron will keep his Brentwood mansion and his family can still live in LA.

But a Cleveland swan song for 41 nights a year isn't as crazy as it seemed a couple years ago.
