Sure, but his “self-generated” threes were mostly just based on guys not respecting that he will shoot, and can make, shots from 5 feet behind the arc. He only had one shot in those highlights that came off his dribble creating space instead of how deep he was standing creating space.
I agree. He probed for these shots for the entirety of his rookie year as well and we saw, and discussed at the time, how defenses were now aware of his scouting report. The difference was that he’s facing prepared NBA players who are longer and more athletic than the unprepared and less athletic SL players.

The hater stuff is just as bad.
I don't really have a dog in this fight, though I love PP's shooting, but I think part of the issue in these back-and-forths is that the printed word doesn't always convey the spirit in which a message is meant to be delivered. Posts can come off harsher than intended, IMO.

Just my two cents.

Who cares if PP can hold his own on D and play point 10 minutes a night, J+J will get him all the catch and shoot 3s he needs. Plus the step he pulls guys towards him will help them.

I think I, for example, may have taken HRB's and CC's feedback more harshly than it was intended. Chalk that up to weaning off oxy in the hospital.

Pretty much. It would be nice if he could but it's not a necessity like it is with RL.

PP plays a turnover free game, and sets up the go ahead three in the final seconds, but his passing is micro-analyzed.
It is summer league, and I don't think any of his critics here would dispute that he is legitimately an NBA player and (especially) shooter. What remains in doubt is how much room for improvement he has.

No need for Blount on Blount crime.

The "why does HRB hate PP" is odd since he's clearly on record as being a fan of PP.

I like PP, AN, and RL as potential players, in descending order of likely impact in the short term. That doesn't mean that we don't have error bars on all three. Some of us disagree on how wide those error bars are. That's good for conversation, not bad.

It‘s perhaps the wrong thread, but how would you as a coach deploy the other rotation players around J + J? It seems to me that you have four potential plus shooters for their positions (Horford, Nesmith, GWilliams, and Pritchard), two roughly average ones (Smart and Richardson), two below average (Langford and Dunn), and two non-shooters (RWilliams and Kanter). How would you utilize them if you were Udoka?

There is a limited amount of posters talking about a limited amount of subjects. People will share the same opinion more than once over time. That's the crux of it.

Yeah I mean I’ve gone on record for liking what PP brings to our rotation and depth. If you want to talk about someone whose game I still don’t like at this level let’s talk Nesmith lol.

Over my head
But my 2 cents,
Tatum is best when getting the ball, not dribbling it, so everything I expect will be built off of that. Spurs are knoiwn for away from the ball stuff, screen combinations, etc. Lots o variables, obviously, but those actions work best, for any team, if guys helping are pulled away by what supporters can do.
Nothing anyone else can't see,
but say TL sets inscreen, his guy has to watch the lob, maybe allows Tatum to curl, etc, Kanter can post up and score,
If PP is offside on stuff he catches and shootsI am a sucker for inscreen, pin for guy like Tatum, as I have said before he really reminds of Bird in that he can curl into the middle and shoot over people and straight cut for the catch and shoot.

To me health of the core makes this work as much as personal. Kemba was in and out, and needs the ball,
If the Cs can be healthy and play together, I hope/expect we may see fewer 50 point games from JT, but a few more easy scores as guys learn a role.

Fernando being added is great news, having at least 1 borderline NBA quality big on the roster should help all the ballhandlers run real offense.

C's already have more of an interior game with Bruno than in Game 1.

I hate Edwards even when he makes a shot. Hopefully some other team sees something and trades for him

Once again Carsen Edwards leading the team in minutes played. Maybe the C's really are trying to showcase him.

Aaron shows a decent jumper off the dribble -- not much separation, but it goes in.

Nice play by Begarin to attack and kickout. Wish I was seeing that more often.

Also Pritchard has been much better creating shots this game, obviously.

Imagine wanting a screen to get Begarin switched onto you instead of Hauser. Real smart there.

Celtics sizzling from three 10-14 including Nesmith 4-4, PP 3-3 and Carsen 3-5.

They are giving Romeo a real look as a PG and it’s hardly surprising but it doesn’t look so good at first lol

Bol Bol going behind his back and high point catching an air ball was amusing
