It‘s perhaps the wrong thread, but how would you as a coach deploy the other rotation players around J + J? It seems to me that you have four potential plus shooters for their positions (Horford, Nesmith, GWilliams, and Pritchard), two roughly average ones (Smart and Richardson), two below average (Langford and Dunn), and two non-shooters (RWilliams and Kanter). How would you utilize them if you were Udoka?
Over my head
But my 2 cents,
Tatum is best when getting the ball, not dribbling it, so everything I expect will be built off of that. Spurs are knoiwn for away from the ball stuff, screen combinations, etc. Lots o variables, obviously, but those actions work best, for any team, if guys helping are pulled away by what supporters can do.
Nothing anyone else can't see,
but say TL sets inscreen, his guy has to watch the lob, maybe allows Tatum to curl, etc, Kanter can post up and score,
If PP is offside on stuff he catches and shootsI am a sucker for inscreen, pin for guy like Tatum, as I have said before he really reminds of Bird in that he can curl into the middle and shoot over people and straight cut for the catch and shoot.
To me health of the core makes this work as much as personal. Kemba was in and out, and needs the ball,
If the Cs can be healthy and play together, I hope/expect we may see fewer 50 point games from JT, but a few more easy scores as guys learn a role.
